Everybody struggles with confidence from time to time. It's inevitable. The question is, how can you manufacture confidence when it just doesn't seem to be there? This book answers that question. It provides the perfect mix of "confidence hacks" to jumpstart your short-term confidence, while providing "confidence stacks", where you combine certain hacks on a daily basis, and build on your long-term confidence.

Each hack is backed by relevant studies, so you know they work.

I've already started implementing some of the hacks in my daily life, and I've seen a huge improvement in both my confidence and overall demeanor. I can already feel like I'm more willing to take on difficult challenges. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants a roadmap to instantly be more confident in any situation.

I love this book because it gives me tips I can apply right away.
For example, hack 5 "The Easiest Way to Convey Confidence in All of Your Social Interactions". I've noticed that in social situations, if I've kept my eye contact with the person I'm speaking with, I can really retain her attention a lot longer. This is because, when you hold steady eye contact, you express your interest in the other person and you convey that you're confident in what you're telling her, she will reciprocate with interest and feel more confidence in you as well.

Hack 12: "Exercise". Most of the time when I feel diffident, it's because I'm not comfortable in my physiology. I'm either too tense or too disgruntled. The author's advice has helped me in that regard. When I exercise, I am much less stressed. My muscles are relaxed and my brain's reward system becomes more generous. And thus it feels that everything I do becomes more appeasing. And because I am reward, I want to do it more, and I feel more comfortable, and therefore become more confident.

Hack 20: "Focused Breathing". "Breathe in through your nose and deep into your belly. You should feel your belly button expand forward as you do this. After this, breathe out fully, again through your nose so that you feel your belly sink back in and towards your spine. Do this and count at least ten breaths." I can't tell you how many times I've used this technique and felt so much more at ease afterwards.

In summary, I think the author has really hit the nail on the head. His advice is very practical and most of them can be applied instantly. I really recommend this book.

Confidence Hacks combines short stories, explanations of scientific research, self help tips, and David’s signature, playful writing style into a clear, fun, and quick read. David offers several novel and effective tricks to help you boost your confidence and quality of life. He pulls from several fields (e.g., fitness, calendaring, social interactions) and explains concepts clearly, convincingly, and humorously.

I recommend this book to anybody interested in improving their interactions with others.

One thing I like about this book is how quick and straightforward it is to use. You don't have to read parts in any order -- just locate a topic that sounds good, and learn something.

Each section is organized around (1) the topic background/case studies and (2) the hack -- the practical steps for execution. This is handy because I know that later I can come back to the book and skip right to the practical tactics for a refresher, without wading through pages of extra material.

The ideas and tactics are solid and make sense -- it's worth looking into -- definitely helps you "Get out of your head"!

When considering self confidence, there are typical and generic advices like "love yourself", "everyone is great" or even worst, "just be yourself". But the real thing is that there are parts of us that do not work, beliefs we have that don't help us to feel confidence. In this book, David de las Morenas analyzes the different ways we can build real confidence. And he does it explaining the two main different confidences we can have: long and short term. Both of them have the capacity to make us feel good with ourselves, but as everything in this life, it's not for free. So, this is a book that could be called "workbook" because we will have to work on the hacks and tricks the author gives us in order to internalize it and to change the bad habits (or to introduce the good ones) in our daily life. There are no magic words that would make you more confidence, but there are exercises and examples, habits and tricks that, implemented and tested by oneself will help us to improve our confidence, short and long term. This is the first read I give to the book, but I will give it at least one more. It is also complemented with some bibliography and psichologycal studies the support the claims made by the author. It is clear that below the surface of the book, we can find a big amount of research about the subject and a deep knowledge of the matter. There are a lot of material to work with. If you are convinced to work in order to improve your confidence and you want advices and ideas to make it easier, this is the book.
