Conversations with God, An Uncommon Dialogue: Living in the World with Honesty, Courage, and Love Hardcover – October 17, 2008
Purchase options and add-ons
Jesus did it. Mohammed did it. The Jewish prophets did it. They all spoke directly with God. But none of them spoke to God with the sardonic wit, irony, and raw verve of Neale Donald Walsch.
But Walsch is no prophet, and neither is he a new messiah of a new religion. It all began when Walsch, simply a frustrated man, sat down one day with a pen in his hand and some tough questions in his heart. As he wrote his questions to God, he realized God was answering him—directly—through the pen in his hand. The result was Conversations with God, An Uncommon Dialogue—matter-of-fact, in-your-face wisdom for readers on how to live day to day while remaining true to themselves and their spiritualities.
In this expanded edition with new material, Walsch records his discussions with God about time, space, politics—and even kinky sex. It is a contemporary discussion that honestly—and often humorously—explores life's critical issues and offers suggestions about how the reader's world can become a much better place when one’s mind is open to having personal conversations with God.
The book includes a new introduction, and Walsch has divided the text into three sections, each one prefaced with new, original commentary as he looks back over twelve-plus years of his deeper, more active relationship with God. The words of God are printed in blue.

About the author

NEALE DONALD WALSCH is a modern day spiritual messenger whose words continue to touch the world in profound ways. With an early interest in religion and a deeply felt connection to spirituality, Neale spent the majority of his life thriving professionally, yet searching for spiritual meaning before experiencing his now famous conversation with God. The "Conversations with God" series of books that emerged from those encounters has been translated into 37 languages, touching millions and inspiring important changes in their day-to-day lives.
"Conversations with God" has redefined God and shifted spiritual paradigms around the globe. In order to deal with the enormous response to his writings, Neale has created several outreach projects, including the CWG Foundation, CWG for Parents, Humanity’s Team, the CWG Helping Outreach, and The Global Conversation --- all accessible at the “hub” website CWGPortal.com, and all dedicated to help the world move from violence to peace, from confusion to clarity, and from anger to love.
Neale's work has taken him from the steps of Macchu Picchu in Peru to the steps of the Shinto shrines of Japan, from Red Square in Moscow to St. Peters Square in Vatican City to Tiananmen Square in China. And everywhere he has gone --- from South Africa to Norway, Croatia to The Netherlands, the streets of Zurich to the streets of Seoul --- Neale has experienced a hunger among the people to find a new way to live, at last, in peace and harmony, and he has sought to bring people a new understanding of life and of God which would allow them to experience that.
He lives with his wife, the American poet Em Claire, in Oregon. Find out more at NealeDonaldWalsch.com.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 13, 2014I have recently finished all three books so I am writing the same review for all three. If you are seeking to know God , Love and the connection of these two and yours to them this book is for you. When reading these books be sure to read them in order. Many questions will come to you but wait till you read book three then you can connect all three books together. The material in this book comes a bit heavy but all will make sense at end. Thanks a lot to my dear friend Dr. Jayne Dye for recommending this book to me.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 19, 2011I ordered all three books on the strength of other reviews and recommendations.
When I got the books, I have to say I was a little surprised at how 'local' this American-style God was.
For example, in discussing WW2 and the events that led to the decision to bomb Hiroshima, only one aspect of this massive war was mentioned...you guessed it.
The Pearl Harbour bombing!
!!!
Another aspect which 'surprised' me was the exortations to have lots and lots of sex.
Well, I've been hearing this same message from every boy that ever looked at me sideways since I was about 15 years old.
'God' has gotta have a lot more to this aspect of physicality /sexuality ...? What about scientfic studies that seem to show that the higher the number of sexual partners, the less oxytocin (bonding hormone) released, particularly by men, but notable in both genders?
Elsewhere in the book, there is reference made to the economic oppression of women ... but the link between the sexual use of women and other means of exploitation are never made clear. In a book where God does not shy from politics, and in a world where starving women are forced to prostitute themselves for food, I found this strange.
There is no discussion of the spiritual worth - or otherwise - of the process of giving birth. Women commonly relate giving birth as a profound spiritual experience. Are women simply dreaming when they say this?
One more thing - the references again and again to noble savage myths. Australian Aborigines are lauded as gentle fonts of wisdom who were so advanced they would copulate in public. Not as all sure about that one, but one thing that is known is the heavy violence exacted against women. There are many historical references by first white settlers as to the horrific scars carried by Aboriginal women. Perhaps an American God can't be expected to know this? Or was he simply too polite to say.
All in all, a worthwhile if sentimental book.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 22, 2015This is a wonderful book for someone who has been on a spiritual journey for many years and finds her own thoughts and feelings about life
and the world put into words. The difference between religion and spirituality is expressed extremely well. I have followed the path described
for a long time and find my very own vision of life and the after-life resonate in my heart. It is satisfying to know I am not alone in my belief-
system.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 31, 2012Talking with an entity does not constitute talking with god......all though I do not disagree with what this guild has to say. By the way I'm only up to the third chapter. You asked.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 1, 2014I love this book. I keep it in the pile of inspirational books that I have and pick it up when I want to read from it. I recommend it for anyone serious about their spiritual journey. It is very informative, enlightening, and in keeping with the things I have come to believe about the oneness of all things in the Universe.
