- Reviewed in the United States on September 23, 2015If you claim to be a fan of Firefly/Serenity and you have not checked out the stellar comic collections that complete the stories, you need to, and fast before a more rabid fan accuses you of being a 笨天生的一堆肉。・ (BUN tyen-shung duh ee-DWAY-RO) or Stupid Inbred Stack of Meat in the Firefly lexicon. But seriously, the artwork is consistently impressive, the stories are all Whedon (and a few friends) and the characters are those lovable rapscaollions we know and love oh-so-very-well. If you want to complete your Firefly experience, get these books, before the Alliance cracks down on them.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 11, 2014Because I collect all things Firefly and this series did not disappoint. Now, maybe you can't go by a die-hard supporter. Other reviewers said it was short and the story seemed incomplete. I didn't notice that. I noticed that Brett Matthews' art was excellent, the dialog exactly what one would expect from a Joss Whedon production, and it was a really fun way to spend a half hour. The hard cover volume contains the entire Better Days comic series in one beautiful edition, sturdy and richly detailed, to be enjoyed over and over.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 28, 2013This is great for someone like me for two reasons.
1) I'm a huge Firefly fan.
2) I'm a huge comic book aficionado.
Put these two things together and you get this collection being great. Whenever I want more than just the TV show I can pull this out and read some adventures of my favorite tv characters. The stories here are very entertaining and the art is good to compliment it.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 27, 2017Sometimes you're the windshield, sometimes you're the bug.
That's life.
And for Mal and his crew, we watch them go through one or the other of these with every adventure.
Artistically, this is very rich, even if the likenesses are not perfect. I've covered this topic in my "Leaves On The Wind" review, and also in "Those Left Behind", so I won't further it here.
Spending time in this universe really is a joy. It is always fun, even if the adventures aren't always gripping and terrifying and amazing. Sometimes life is not so grand. I think the nature of that reality shows up in these graphic novels.
I enjoyed the story, but it was lacking in some qualities. But I am glad they are producing these efforts nonetheless.
True fans will enjoy it. Time spent with friends is never wasted, even if it is a make believe universe.
So put on your Browncoat, strap on your favourite weapon, and step into the stars...
- Reviewed in the United States on February 23, 2015First off, as you can see from the cover art, the panels are incredible. The book is like a work of art. While others who have reviewed the stories themselves as less than what they expected I enjoyed them. I miss the Firefly 'verse and this was just a little peek into it. Some have given us new stories, some gave us a bit of closure on old stories and others a hope for the continuation of the 'verse. I love these books.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 23, 2009This book is wonderful. I miss Firefly so much since it went off the air. The book is a quick read. It shows some of the life while they lived on Firefly and the life before Firefly.
The pictures and writing are very clear and clean. I would reccommend this book to an older crowd due to the violence and adult content. Perhaps 14 years and older. And of course I would recommend it to any Firefly or Serenity fan 100%.
I hope you enjoy the book as much as I did.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 12, 2011I just recently discovered firefly and serenity and fell in love with the story, the character and everything about it. I was very sad that it is over and was excited about the idea of reading this comic books.
The story, drawings and quality of this comic books it's amazing. he characters look and act like the ones in the tv shows and by the end of all the books I ended wanting more and more of them. I really hope they keep coming.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 21, 2012Nice job Whedon. This is a great graphic novel for fans of the series. (Others would get lost.) 5 Stories that stay true to the characters and plot connecting the dots between series and movie. Probably rated about PG-13 for sex and violence, much like the show. Cool to read more than once and good graphics by different artists.

Perceptive ReaderReviewed in India on September 30, 20204.0 out of 5 stars Burning Bright!
For us, the Browncoats, these graphic novels have been unalloyed treasure. The backstories and nuanced relationships they reveal, the action and humour, most importantly the dollops of Firefly that they feed us long after the last episode has been telecast— all make them memorable in all sense.
This volume, containing the following episodes, was no exception~
1. Better Days followed by Afterword
2. The Other Half
3. Downtime
4. Float Out
Like supercharged particles these stories, especially the graphics and terse dialogues, drive us towards the end.
Only bad thing about this book? It ends too soon. But before that happens, you get some ride!
Recommended.

So amazing!!! We lost the whole collection in a house fire a couple of months ago and I've been wanting to re-read them lately! We will eventually replace them when we have the spare funds.

No puedo comentar nada sin hacer spoilers. Pero sin duda lo recomiendo. Otras grandes historias de nuestra tripulación favorita del Verso.
Elena TReviewed in Italy on January 9, 20145.0 out of 5 stars Not disappointing
Nice drawings and cool storylines make for a pleasant dive into the 'verse of Firefly. I will forever struggle with accepting that we will never get to see the Serenity on tv again, so this comic was a nice consolation prize.
ShepoReviewed in the United Kingdom on July 25, 20125.0 out of 5 stars Serenity Graphic Novel
Good art work, good story line, good comic! A nice addition to the Firefly/Serenity world, the characters are just as good in this as they are in the series/movie. The main story is a good one but the last of the short stories after it is the best one, its about Wash and it leaves it with a great ending. It arrived within the estimated delivery date. All in all 5/5.
