I've had the book on my shelf and only read it just now. It is an "eye opener." Only recently after reading extensively on a few blog sites have I realized the extent of the death grip the government in hand with mega corporations has turned into a fascist state. No other word can adequately describe the extent of the abuse of power to be found in Washington D.C.
This book, THE TRIUMPH OF CONSCIOUSNESS, details the present as the slow and deliberate outgrowth of corruption that began with the unwitting cooperation of Eisenhower following WW II, and the likes of the Dulles boys. And add a few others like Hoover, parhaps. Then this is traced thro' the decades that followed and the assassination of JFK. One president, Carter, is the only one who does not seem to come out of the same mold that has given us 75 years of quiet tyranny.
The review of Robert David STEELE Vivas is excellent for detail I will omit here, and will only underline one book he recommends, 9/11 Synthetic Terror: Made in USA.
What in particular caught my attention was the documented history the book provided going back some 100-200 years, and the background including famous figure like Fullbright, Rhodes, Henry Ford, and Carnige whom most of us revered as the giants who participated in the establishment of democracy in the USA. And also, the thumbnail sketch of Obama who so many of us trusted as one of us, and we find out these few years later has sold us out. (it was a bad omen when he appointed Geithner to his cabinet - ouch!)
Maybe the author is planning a sequel, but I was left hanging at the end as to the near future, what to expect, the way many Americans are likely to either protest, say with the internet, and find ways to counter the present trend that is slowly engulfing us in a police state, the beginning of martial law we see happening. Or to try to imagine how China is changing the face of world economics, or how Russia and the EU and the BRIC countries are a factor.
