Andrea Smetona was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on July 30th, 1982 to Robert and Theresa Sheldon. She is the middle child of three kids, with an older sister, Katrina, and a younger brother, Kyle. She attended Texas Tech University and graduated in 2007 with a bachelors degree in Interior Design and worked thereafter as a Junior Designer for two different hospitality design firms. In 2010, she married her college sweetheart, Ian Smetona, and they moved to Laguna Niguel, CA, where they currently reside with their son, Quintus. 2010 was also the year Andrea started her mini-desserts business called Cakewalk Desserts and it has been thriving ever since.

It is her love of baking and ability to institute edible design that make her desserts so memorable and fun. This is also at the foundation of her book debut, "Easy as Pie Pops." As her first cookbook, she wanted to focus on her most popular treat, the Pie Pop, but the book also includes cake pop and tea cake recipes. The cookbook is almost a memory-album for her, as most recipes are beloved family heirlooms (some dating back four generations).

"I feel as if this cookbook is a tribute to the women in my family and to my business. I hope that it will someday be my legacy to my children and mean as much to them as it does to me. I believe it has all of the fun and innovation of today's culinary flare, but the recipes bare the integrity to be timeless and enjoyed by future generations to come. I hope people get a sense of that when using this book and sharing the recipes with their loved ones. "
