The author shares hard truths the majority are unaware of such as: "When the woman gets closer to ten weeks, I explain that she ‘might see something recognizable'. This could be tiny limbs. It will only be the size of a strawberry."

Other instances when women are wrong about the date of their last period the author says; "...sometimes these women, at a slightly later stage of pregnancy, will call the helpline and will send me a photo from their phone of what they can see. This can include eyes, fingers, and toes, and even I can sometimes still find these images shocking."

The author had worked at a facility that did surgical abortion up until 24 weeks and she describes watching a 20-week abortion and seeing arms, legs, and other recognizable body parts being pulled from the woman's body.

5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful and important

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this well written and important book. It’s a tough subject matter as the author makes clear time and again, it is incredibly important for women and society that choice remains available to those who need it.

I learned a great deal and really warmed to the kindness shared. Would definitely recommend.

An powerful account of working in a clinic that performs abortions, its dispels the myths and stereotypes surrounding this common form of healthcare.

Well written and, in my view, necessary reading for all women and girls everywhere.A forensic, yet human discussion about the process of securing abortions and dispelling the many myths, and shames around important reproductive rights.
