Richard Halvorsen worked as a GP (family doctor) in central London for over 20 years where he integrated acupuncture, and other complementary therapies, into orthodox general medical practice. He left the NHS in 2009 to concentrate on his interests of childhood immunisation and acupuncture.

Richard founded BabyJabs, a unique dedicated children’s immunisation service in London where he works as medical director. He offers parents a choice of single and small combination vaccines for their child and, in consultation with parents, prepare personalised immunisation schedules for children, taking into account their personal situation and needs.

Richard is concerned that the vaccine ‘debate’ is often polarised between those who are either obsessively pro-vaccine or totally opposed to any sort of vaccination. I find both these viewpoints extreme and unhelpful to parents who are confused and unsure about which immunisations to give their child.

He believes there should be a greater opportunity for calm discussion about the benefits and side-effects of immunisation.

Richard is not anti-vaccine (he would hardly run an immunisation clinic if I were) but he does have concerns about the quantity and frequency of vaccines given to very young babies.

Richard has also established City Acupuncture and work as a medical acupuncturist at The Broadgate Spine and Joint Clinic in the heart of the City of London.

Richard studied acupuncture for two years at the British College of Acupuncture in London shortly after qualifying as a doctor in London in 1982. He has since studied both traditional Chinese and Western medical acupuncture in China and the UK and has now been practicing acupuncture for nearly 30 years.

Amazing book!!! He is the Dr. America needs. After my son contracted measles after the vaccine ( the same strain as the vaccine, proven my public health lab) I looked for a concrete information regarding vaccines and this book did just that.

5.0 out of 5 stars All parents should read this book

This is a very well written and well researched book. There's no "fluff" or sensationalism, and the author sticks to the facts. It's an easy-to-read book and doesn't get bogged down in medical terminology, although, inevitably, there are lots of acronyms, which can be difficult to keep up with at times. It's a bit of an eye-opener, and it shines a very bright light on "vested interests."
To my mind, the main thing that comes out of this book is that we are barking up the wrong tree with the (dodgy) vaccination campaigns. It becomes patently obvious, as you get deeper into the book, that what is needed is millions and millions of "dollars" spending on better access to clean water, better nutrition, better sanitation, better education, for ALL, instead of wasting lots of taxpayers money on advertising campaigns trying to convince everyone to subject themselves to vaccinations that have not been properly tested for safety, let alone efficacy, with all the money going to "Big Pharma." We are handing over the health of our future generations to certain individuals whose only concern is their bank balance, and who want us to become vaccine dependent. If you honestly think that the likes of Bill Gates and the WHO has your best interests at heart.....think again. Read this book!

My child is now 12 months old and as per the nhs schedule will have had 19 jabs and is due to have 7 more this month. Some for example are 5 in 1 jabs. Had I know more before my child was born and figured out how many vaccinations he would be getting my decision making would be different. As an adult I would consider 19 jabs in a year even if some have been rolled into one vaccine jab as excessive. Make an informed decision about whether to vaccinate or not. Do not trust pharmaco's or the government - remember thalidiomide many parents would have assumed as the health profession was giving this it would be safe and we know what happended there.

I highly recommend this book for any parent trying to decide whether or not to vaccinate their child. This is a balanced and informed discussion about the pros and cons of vaccines, what is in them, their side effects and I did not feel that the author was trying to push me towards his own viewpoint, as he himself is a doctor who does in fact vaccinate children. I would wholeheartedly recommend this book. If you are pro vaccination then it is not worth you buying, however if you are trying to making up your mind either way you will find interesting material here.

A great book. Informative without scaremongering. This book really gets to grips with the vaccination dilemma. My eldest son is severely autistic and we've grappled with vaccination issues for the last 6 years (our other 2 children are fine). Richard Halvorsen comments on issues I've wondered about for years (e.g. the change in vaccination schedule meaning that babies- such as my eldest son- were receiving mercury at 2,3 and 4 months rather than spread out over the first year).
He's not anti-vaccination, he's pro safe and sensible vaccination. Highly recommended.

A very balanced account of the history of each vaccine, the disease today and what actual safety trials have been done in each case. It is deliberately not sensational - the author does run a clinic doing jabs in London, so he is far from being against vaccines. I was nevertheless shocked by some of his discoveries. Don't listen to my conclusions, get as much information as you can to inform your own choices, this is too serious a decision to just follow the herd.
