When they said, "Patience, parties, movements, and a well-established hierarchy are necessary for our triumph," she said, "We need instead riots, total war, and the destruction of the totems that have created your priestly relationship with life." When they demanded orthodoxy, she said, "being ruled is being ruled, control is control." Rachel Haywire is an author and tech journalist from Los Angeles, California. She runs the dissident political magazine Trigger Warning (triggerwarning.us) and was the founder of both the Extreme Futurist Festival and INSTED. Once upon a time she was also an industrial music producer and fetish model, who was featured in various anthologies about the occult, politics, philosophy, and alternative culture. She is now finishing up her degree in Philosophy, with a focus on applying Nietzsche to a modern day context. Her first book was a travel memoir called Acidexia about her journey through the North American zeitgeist.

She Writes Philosophy With a Hammer

Reactionary Individualism is what you get from this collection of essays from Rachel Haywire. Her contrary nature suffuses this work and reading it feels precisely like coming home. This collection highlights her ability as a thinker and a writer to transcend the spoon fed dichotomy of Left and Right presented to most people as "Gospel Truth." Simultaneously, she is both beyond good and evil and left and right which is precisely her charm. She has taken elements of the old non-mainstream right and fused it with leftist futurism to present the reader with a Hegelian Synthesis which is intoxicating. Taking nothing away from her as a writer, the brevity of this work left me wanting more and wishing that she had gone a little more in depth. Perhaps, however, that is not her style. She surely pulls no punches in that the power and brevity of her essays leaves one thinking that, whereas others write philosophy with a pen, she writes philosophy with a hammer. Great read and highly recommended!

"The New Reaction," is the New Revolution of the Mind.

I'm active in day-to-day retail politics. Don't give me theory, give me the data points of why a neighborhood votes Left or Right.

Only Rachel Haywire understands that the fight is not just in the data, but in the cultural trends too. You might not agree with her conclusions, but she hits the point every time. Andrew Breitbart talked of winning "Downstream from culture," In "The New Reaction," she shows that the Establishment is not Right, but the Gentry Left who use protests as way to feel "hip," instead of fixing a solution.

She is at the forefront of the Revolution of the Mind. Anyone who can mock the Liberal Establishment and re-define the Right's battleground is worth following.

When the Revolution does come, I'd take her side in a minute. She is a modern Robespierre.

A vivid attack on the cultural left's exclusionary inclusion

“If the movie They Live were to take place today, the obey/conform signs would be replaced with disobey/revolt signs. What people don’t seem to realize is that they are doing exactly what they are told.” is a passage that properly summarizes this book’s content. The New Reaction also focuses on how the cultural left deals with traitors to its cause, and by traitors I mean people whom the left thinks should be in their camp rather than all of those infidel, straight white males in flyover country.

The book has a bit of transhumanism including how immigration will become less of an issue after we learn to reshape ourselves. Cultural warriors on both the left and right who hope/fear that immigration will transform America for generations to come, don’t even consider that in a few decades the genes of young Americans will be determined more by parental choice than the laws of genetic inheritance.

The author thinks that the left uses inclusionary language to exclude, i.e. if you don’t support gay marriage you are unworthy to associate with us. While George Orwell’s 1984 showed a state hiding its oppressive nature by using terms to mean their opposite, The New Reaction makes the case that the cultural left tries to do the same, and this book can be seen as an angry rebellion against this. Although the author doesn't use the neo-reactionary term “the cathedral” her book does seem a deliberate attack on its alleged power The cathedral is supposedly the New York Times, Harvard, and other cultural leaders that many think wield massive, almost state-like power, in the Western World. The New Reaction poses a challenge to libertarians (such as myself) who worry far more about the state punishing thought criminals than private organizations doing so.

Stylistically, The New Reaction is a collection of short, related essays brimming with high-energy sentences. It’s about as far away as you can get from dry academic writing while still using proper grammar and syntax. Reading this book could help authors who wish to make their own language more impactful.

I don’t agree with everything in this book. For example, the author writes “It is hard to imagine a world in which the ghetto wants ‘the State’ to patrol their neighborhood”. I strongly suspect that many Americans who live in ghettos would much like the police to pay more attention to their community to reduce crime. In a way, with this sentence, the author doesn't sufficiently follow through on her own thesis of not trusting what the cultural left tells us about the oppressed’s desires.

Brace yourself...she's back and beaming!

The New Reaction in some ways could have been called Acidexia II in that it is somewhat of a continuation of her original book although the cover on this one is even more awesome as it seems to beautifully capture the true essence of this multi-dimensional young woman. The newest Rachel Haywire publication showcases the writer as a fierce critic of the culture industry she once embraced. Her journeys and observations of this crazy changing world around us demonstrate her perpetually evolving and fascinating views.

This book contains transhumanist themes that may possibly offend some established transhumanists, but at the same time may also captivate new people from the industrial and neofolk fringes. The New Reaction may even get people from the New Right to open their minds and expand their horizons just a bit. Aside from Rachel Haywire's idiosyncratic take on a variety of perplexing issues, this book offers a curiously awesome intro to Post-Left political philosophy from the perspective of a Jewish anarchist who sees through it all. Ms. Haywire's literary skill and genuine desire to concurrently entertain and educate is evident in her writing. With chapters entitled "National Futurism," "Servants of the Changing Tide," and Guy Fawkes was a Monarchist," the author clearly has a creative flair and love of writing.

Rachel Haywire is intelligent, quirky and one of a kind which is why reading her essays is always a thrill. Each dynamic story of hers which lands upon on a written page leaves the reader craving more and wondering what next shall follow? Acidexia and The New Reaction are not your ordinary garden variety bland and forgettable reads. Even if you don't necessarily agree with the entirety of the author's premises, insight and commentary, her books are nonetheless thought provoking, make an impact and are worthy of attention. I hope Ms. Haywire will continue to share her informative and mind awakening adventures in yet another volume. Maybe it will be called Acidexia's Old Reaction!
