Jacomon and Matz are a wonderful team of the contemporary French graphic fiction scene. It is a treat to see their work translated into English. We have Archaia Entertainment to thank for that.
Jacomon' depth of psychological realism brings out characters that are not overboard with explosive emotions but are seething enough with dark desires to keep you wondering what is wrong with the world. His futuristic world of reality TV is a critique of mass media, political manipulation, consumer society, militarism and globalization. Matz's art is superb. His shifts from rich colors to monochromatic colors reflect the changing mood of characters and his elegant thin lines are perfect for the seductively simple setting of the narrative and the seemingly plain, ordinary characters.
You should also check out their other masterpiece, so far three volumes have been translated into English: The Killer, Vol. 1 (v. 1),The Killer, Vol. 2and The Killer Volume 3: Modus Vivendi.
