"Bandette", drawn by Colleen Coover, was awarded the Eisner Award for Best Digital Series in 2013, 2016, and 2017; it was a finalist for the Oregon Book Award for Graphic Literature in 2016. Paul’s graphic novel "I Was the Cat", created with artist Benjamin Dewey, was nominated for an Eisner in 2015. "Colder", the horror comic he created with artist Juan Ferreyra, was also nominated that same year. Paul's comic book adaptations of other media include "Plants Vs. Zombies", "Angry Birds", and "The Witcher". In 2021, he and frequent "Plants Vs. Zombies" artist Ron Chan will present their new graphic novel "Earth Boy".
"The Genius Factor: How to Capture an Invisible Cat", first in Paul’s series of novels for middle-grade readers, debuted in 2016 from Bloomsbury Kids. The series continued with "How to Outsmart a Billion Robot Bees" and "How To Tame a Human Tornado".

- Reviewed in the United States on April 5, 2012I don't remember the story teller at all, but husband does & we found the show on netflix for my daughter to watch, in which she loves. Then I saw a copy of this book at my local comic book store, but didn't bother figuring they'd be asking a lot for it. A few days later I was surfing around here on amazon & found it 7 just had to have it. The price is extremely reasonable! The book itself is quite beautifully made & the artwork is wonderful. It's a must have!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 1, 2012The Storyteller graphic novel is beautifully illustrated. I actually purchased several of these books to give as gifts. My 5 siblings and I grew up looking forward to a new episode of the Storyteller, and when the graphic novel came out, we were thrilled! I was happy to see the novel contained stories that weren't on the TV series, so we were able to enjoy additional stories through this book.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 10, 2013This book is told in comic book style. I'm not typically a comic book reading kind of person, but something about this one pulled my interest. It's apparently based off a series of television programs, which shamefully, I'd never heard of before this book!
There are several different stories by different authors and illustrators, but with the common theme of the storyteller and his dog. There's various fables, folk tales, and fairy tale-ish stories throughout with different kinds of morals attached. Of course, there's some I liked better than others. The same goes for the illustrations. Each one also has various levels of corniness! ;) There's one story of a cat that turns into a man for love, and one where a woman gives birth to a frog that has knowledge of everything under the sun. Ha! Do you know those stories where suddenly your brow wrinkles up as you proclaim(if only in your mind), "What?!"? You'll do that a great deal with this book! Some of the stories are wonderfully weird, but some of them are just plain weird, like the witch baby one! In that story there's a baby with iron teeth that eats her family. She's shown with fingers in her mouth, like it's a carrot. It seems more in line with the "original" fairy tales, back when people weren't quite so squeamish.
Overall, if you're a fan of comic book style stories and different kinds of fairy tale-ish stories, I'd give this one a try. My feelings are pretty mixed, but overall, I kind of liked it.
*I was provided a review copy through Netgalley.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 11, 2012I just received the book and inhaled it. The different types of new stories and their unique art styles were gorgeous, and our beloved Storyteller's dog continues with his commentary throughout the tales. A must-have for fans of the series - I can't wait for volume 2!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 24, 2012exellent service!, the product was in perfect conditions and the sihipping was very fast, very recomendable, and it is a great book of course! thanks
- Reviewed in the United States on August 9, 2013***I was provided an ecopy of this graphic novel by Diamond Book Distributors via NetGalley in exchange for a fair review***
I am a huge fan of all things Jim Henson. As a child, The Muppet Show and Fraggle Rock were two of my favorite shows. I also really enjoyed The Storyteller. Each episode would tell a different story, some from myths, some fables, and others taken from history. I even have the DVD set on my shelf right now.
This graphic novel was set up in a similar fashion to the tv series episodes. Each story is bookended by the Storyteller himself and his dog. They even come up within the stories as well sometimes. I like the interactions between the Storyteller and his dog.
Many authors and illustrators contributed to this graphic novel. There is a lot of diversity in the type of stories. Some of them I was familiar with, but most of them I had never heard of before. The style of each story is also different. The art is different and unique for each story. Some are more cartoony while others have a realistic feel.
If you are a fan of Jim Henson or even just fables and fairytales, this is a book for you. This would be a nice book to read to a young child, each night reading a different story. This would be a perfect introduction to comic books and graphic novels. I give this graphic novel a 4/5.

I think it's a shame that another reviewer gave this book a bad rap, but everyone is entitled to an opinion.
I on the other hand, absolutely adored this book.
There are many different artists whom gave their own interpretations of fresh new "Storyteller" stories and I thought that was quite interesting.
My favorite is the story about the black cat. Very beautiful and the art is exquisite.
This book will be a treat for any fan of the original television series, and I simply cannot wait until the next volume is released!

I was very excited to find this product having grown up watching Labyrinth and the Story Teller by Jim Henson - I thought it was the original book (I have been trying to buy the original dvd but it retails at a very high price).
When the book finally arrived after having taken ages to be dispatched I opened it to find it is a cartoon and written by others - it looks purely as if they used the image of the storyteller. I took one look and am about to promptly return the item!
Adam McconnellReviewed in Canada on September 19, 20122.0 out of 5 stars Absolute garbage.
The stories in this book are absolutely terrible. If you are expecting ANY of the "stories" to be as interesting and charming as even your least favorite episode of Storyteller, you will be very very sadly dissapointed. This publication really is an embarassment. Without exageration I could not even bring myself to give this crap away for free let alone try to sell it in a yard sale to get my money back. The only reaction you can have after completing each one is "What??? That's it??" It is no wonder they didn't make into the tv show, no one would want their name included in the credits. After shipping, this piece of #$%! cost me over $30.00. I was so excited to read them to my son as we both were delighted with each of the stories on tv (well, netflix). Our excitement immediately evaporated away after the first "story", and after each one (we held out hope that there might be one that was not an insult to the art of storytelling) The publisher of this should be ashamed.
