The Most Effective Goal Setting Method I've Discovered

I'm a big fan of Seth Godin's work. I started exploring Zig Ziglar because Seth had reference him multiple times. When I first heard this program mentioned I figured, 20 bucks was a small price to pay. I've spent years trying to find effective methods for accomplishing my goals. This is hands down the best thing I've ever found. I've ordered it more than once. If you use it, you'll see results. That's all there is to it. Don't be fooled by the simplicity of this program. Stick with it for 12 weeks and the results will really blow your mind. Things that I've seen friends accomplish include

- Creating iphone Apps
- Starting businesses
- Finishing books

This program is about finishing what you start. So give it a go.

Seth Godin has created an amazing, yet simple, goal system with the Pick Four books. I'm sad to see that these are discontinued.
I've used these both personally, and in group settings. It's incredible how much positive has come from using this system.
The system is simple - Create 4 goals, and track your progress... DAILY. Do something for each goal every single day. Work on it alone, work at it with a group. but track your progress regularly.
Highly recommended if you can get your hands on a copy.

I purchased these and let them sit on the shelf for a few months... yep, I'm not that big on goal setting. So, when I finally opened them and started using them the lightbulb went off... pretty cool stuff once you make the effort to follow the plan!

Well, nuts. They seem to be out of print now. I've gone through three years worth of these and went to order another four pack. The ritual of quarterly planning and nightly reviews is valuable to me, but the price has skyrocketed.

Helped me launch new business

I heard about these planners through Seth Godin's blog. Having benefited so much from Seth's books and his core principle of "ship it," I ordered these as soon as they were out. I was not disappointed. I took them on a personal retreat last August and came up with 4 goals for the next 12 weeks. Last Friday was the final day of my 12-week journey with these 4 goals. I did not fully achieve all four, but one of the four was to launch a new business venture. THAT one was spectacularly fulfilled. I was so encouraged each week--each day in some cases--about how I was making progress toward this goal of having this venture up and running and very profitable from the start. I gave myself a week off and am starting another 12 weeks with a new set of goals next week. Even on the goals I did not fully achieve, I got so much more accomplished toward them than I would have done otherwise. And the analysis that the planner walked me through each week helped me understand the resistance that kept presenting itself on those goals. So I now have a better handle on why one of the goals in particular was so hard to achieve.

I have used other goal systems, but this one takes you by the hand and actually walks you through the pursuit of the goals you set. That gives it a kind of accountability factor. If you actually take the daily small steps toward the goals you write, you will find yourself so much farther down the road at the end of the 12 weeks than you would have been without this focusing/accountability tool. It sure worked for me....and I am ordering 2 more packs of them to give to clients and relatives as New Year's gifts. Thanks, Seth, for putting these together again.

When you pick up Pick Four you have everything that you need to build out a plan towards your highest goals. The toughest part is staying consistent, but this little book does a great job of motivating you to work towards your goals.
