Dr. Carey S. Clark has been a nurse since 1994. She has a wide background of nursing experience, including having worked in the medical-surgical, psychiatric, pediatric, hospice, home health, and parish nurse settings. For over 20 years, she has taught across the levels of nursing education and she is committed to creating holistic nursing education experiences for all nursing students. Dr. Clark is a Professor in the Medical Cannabis Certificate program at Pacific College of Health and Science.
Dr. Clark is Past-President of the American Cannabis Nurses Association, a 501c3 not-for-profit national nursing organization that focuses on advocacy, research, and education. At conferences across the nation, Dr. Clark has spoken to thousands of oncology and holistic nurses about medical cannabis and how they can best support their patients' use of medical cannabis. In the Wolters-Kuhlwer textbook Cannabis: A Handbook for Nurses, she has gathered some of the leaders in cannabis care nursing to bring cannabis knowledge into mainstream nursing education and practice environments. This book covers the National Council of State Boards of Nursing's six essential areas of knowledge for providing care for medical cannabis patients.
Dr. Clark is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing. She is currently researching student nurses' experiences with growing their knowledge and skills regarding medical cannabis care and the stigma patients face in disclosing cannabis use.
