There were a lot of bad reviews on this because of the filming style and all, but I love this entire movie. The spiraling slow-motion camera work really adds to that early 90s grunge atmosphere, and you get to hear Chris Cornell and the rest of the band at their best. Superunknown is usually considered the classic but my personal favorite is Badmotorfinger, where all the songs on this tape except one are from. There's a pretty lengthy annoying introduction where a clown comes out on stage and tells bad jokes until the audience is literally screaming for Soundgarden, but once the actual music starts it's worth it. "Jesus Christ Pose" might be the best one on here because of the sheer talent that goes into it; Matt Cameron is banging the drums so fast with amazing precision for the entire six-minute-plus song, and Cornell's voice is just incredible. During the closer "Slaves & Bulldozers", my favorite Soundgarden song of all time, there's an extended break in the middle where Cornell inexplicably sings the lyrics to Pearl Jam's "Alive". He seems a little worn out from all the screaming by this time so the song isn't as intense as it should have been, but the only other complaints I have with this video are a) it should have been longer and b) they have to release it on DVD. If you like Soundgarden or grunge at all, buy this.

Apparently, flies with cameras mounted on their backs filmed this video. When done filming, they got together and edited their work, adding lots of slow motion. Then they added random shots and white noise in between moments in the interviews.

Now, I know some people might not mind the camerawork here, but I think Soundgarden was a highly charismatic band and doesn't need the extra video techniques to create _____. (What were they going for, anyway? Drama? A sense of intoxication? MTV-style '90s sense of immediacy? The hunger and fear of buzzing around a room full of people?) I just wanted to imagine actually being at the show, but I am not a fly.

Only the excellent music and a few choice moments of video raise my rating to two; after trying to enjoy Motorvision twice, I am giving up and re-selling this one.

It was the Soundgarden 1994 release Superunknown that catapulted the group into superstardom, but it was 1991's Badmotorfinger in which the group found their sound. This video was filmed 2 years before Superunknown, back when Soundgarden could still legitimately be called "Seattle's best kept secret" (except for the Melvins, but that's another review).
Taken from a performance at the Paramount Theater in Seattle, this video shows the boys in prime form. Matt Cameron is just about the best modern rock drummer there is, providing the rumble that allows Kim Thayil (and occasionally singer Chris Cornell) to lay the Heaviest guitars this side of the Misty Mountains.
If you aren't already into Soundgarden, I wouldn't recommend watching this movie first. Buy Badmotorfinger, listen to it, and then watch this. The "Black Hole" Soundgarden fan may tend to find this video dragging on at times.
True fans of the band, or anyone who caught them in the early 90's will enjoy this trip down memory lane.
