I have nearly every release from this band, they are all good, but I have to say this this is the best in my opinion. The lyrics, tunes and recording is mint. I have seen them several times over the years and they are always bring it. The only thing I am missing of there releases is detonate. So obviously I can't compare it, but this release is more focused than the earlier releases.
This is my 2nd Vision CD. You are probably think that there is only 3Vision CDs when actually they have been around since the mid eighties. It's just that am@zon only se|ls 3. My other Vision CD is "Watching the World Burn". "Watching The World Burn" is better. However, this CD is still just plain AMAZING. It's like a cross between "Watching the World Burn" and the band Ignite (most of the time). Also, the songs on this CD are longer. Even though there is only 14 songs, This CD adds up to a whopping 52minutes! Sure it has a hidden track but there is only about 15seconds of silence. So if you add that in it is 15 songs and 52minutes. That is an awful long time for a punk or hardcore CD. The lyrics on "Watching The World Burn" are also better. They seem to be more focused on the topic at hand therefore making more sense. Another lyrical flaw is that unlike "Watching the World Burn" there isn't a single political song on here. But I can't punish Vision for that. They aren't really a political band anyway. Now for a brief summary of each song. 1.Two Wishes: This song definitely doesn't sound good enough to deserve to be track one. It kicks, but there are much better songs. It's about how the rules and ideas about life that were taught to him were all wrong. 2.Live Today: I have no comment about the sound. However, I like the lyrics. It promotes living for today which is something Pennywise has been promoting like forever. 3.Pick of The Litter: This is my favorite song on the disk. In fact it is not only the best song on this CD, but the best hardcore song ever by ANY hardcore band. The evolving guitar notes are spectacular and make this song a must hear. 4.Looking Back: The sound to this song has a darker and harder feel to it. Very much like the song "Antidote" which appears later. Lyrically, it is a little too complex for my taste and is like what my CD summary said that the problem with the lyrics were. It is mainly about figuring out your opinions about the world and life. 5.Disaffected: My jaw dropped to the floor when I heard the ska in the beginning of this song. I mean SKA IN A VISION SONG!!! After the ska is done it becomes a bit more typical. However, I don't really like the lyrics. They don't really make much sense to me. 6.What You May Find: Here is My favorite lyrics on this CD. It is possibly the one of the best on the CD. But that is hard to decide with this awesome CD. 7.Disguise: Here is hands down the catchiest song on the disk. In fact it is even SLIGHTLY poppy. Hard to believe but true. Lyrically it is about one of those phony people who lies to themselves about who they are, and doesn't really know who they are. 8.Antidote: This is the other darker and harder sounding song I mentioned earlier. Lyrically, it's about broken trust. Which was a very commonly sung about subject in "Watching the World Burn". 9.The Kids Still Have a Lot to Say: This song sounds more like "Watching The World Burn" than any other track on here. Yet it isn't as good as most of the "Watching the World Burn" songs. Lyrically, it makes no sense and I don't understand it. 10.Childhood Games: This song starts off as a slow and melodic hard guitar solo. Then when the words start it speeds up and changes. A fantastic song. The lyrics are about many different various things. 11.The Mirror: I don't really know how to describe the sound to this song. However, the lyrics are so me and how I feel on the inside. There is too much to explain about the lyrics for this review. 12.Remember When?: The guitar to this song sounds a lot like pennywise surprisingly. It just is using the standard Vision chords and with Vision's voice. Lyrically, there is too much to explain without singing out the entire song. 13+14: No comment to shorten rev:iew length. Hidden Track: After about 15seconds of silence the hidden track comes on. First it's a long guitar solo about a minute long. After that he says "Now That I'm happy with" then it becomes a crummy folk acoustic song with a song argument attached. Turn it off when that happens.
This record is way better than Watching the World Burn. Vision are musicaly very talented and even though Dave Franklin's voice is kind of annoying, it would just be wrong without him as theyve been together for so long. Just dont buy the newest record. It blows ass!
