Husband wanted this CD because it had the best songs!
Excellent music and price was reasonable. Shipped fast and not damaged.

If you think "Black Hole Sun" is awesome, or if you think it's "just okay," then maybe this album is not for you.

    But, then, maybe it is.

This is the band's breakout, not breakthrough, album.

It takes the music and lyrics and vocals more seriously than ever before and after.

This is "Black Hole Sun's" evil brother.

The highlights here are: "Drawing Flies." The song that makes lazy people realize they're lazy, basically. "Sitting here like uninvited company, wallowing in my own obscenity..."

"Rusty Cage." This song is SOOOO EXTREMELY HEAVY. But you can hear what the man is saying, and you can hear actual notes in the song. So maybe it's not as heavy as today's "heavy." But listen to this song, if you haven't already. You just want to get out and break something. And the slow breakdown at the end is superb.

"Slaves and Bulldozers." Chris Cornell's undeniable vocal pinnacle. He's (probably) never reached another high like he does in this song. It's ear-splitting chaos, from his voice to the raw guitar riffs and bass line, not to mention the drums' ability to MAKE you want to bang your head.

You'll be getting whiplash in zero seconds, flat.

    Trust me.

This is the end-all be-all to melodic metal records.

Love this album. Sounds really good.

Everyone knows this is a stellar album so I won't dig into that much. The vinyl sounds great to me, though others have complaints. The vinyl isn't the flattest thing I've ever seen, but for fifteen bucks I can overlook it. The packaging is pretty boring. Standard white inner sleeve, nothing else. Again, a fifteen dollar product... Overall I feel like it's a great deal. I could have sprung for the two-disc version but I really prefer the album as it was intended: with two sides, not three.

Good pressing, nothing spectacular. This is my favorite SG record so I absolutely had to buy. I will have to invest in some speakers, though, because just playing this on my turntable makes it sound a little flat.

not really groovy, but simply the best friggin' hard rock album of the 90's. It outshines Pearl Jam's 10 (see what I did there), and although it doesn't have the cultural resonance of Nirvana's Nevermind it is as just as significant in the evolution of rock 'n roll. The Seattle 'grunge' sound was the combination of punk, heavy metal, and 70's rock into something new, and nobody personified this better than Soundgarden. Play it loud

I think this is their best album. I also think this captures the sound of “grunge” better than any other band (Nirvana was a bit to poppy for me).

Que dire de Soundgarden ? Que c'est un des plus grands groupes de rock de l'histoire ? Bien sûr, et ce disque un des classiques du groupe. Indispensable.
