These guys are sorely missed. Although they hailed from Seattle, and get lumped in with the grunge scene, they clearly had a unique sound never replicated by any other band of the period. Mind-tweaking, slide guitar-filled, psychedelic, beatnik-tinged freak-outs with witty, surreal, free form lyrics. Easily one of the best and most under-rated bands to come out of Seattle. And "Confusion Au Go Go" is clearly their finest hour. Rougher around the edges and less radio-friendly than "Far Gone" or "Straight Freak Ticket", its raw production and punkier fury are tempered by some of their strongest and most melodic material ever. Ron Nine's lyrics have never been better, nor more discernible. Only negative here would be the spotty production. Otherwise, talk about ending on a high note. Hopefully some day they'll get their due. Sure wished I'd seen 'em live.

First and foremost, this is a great Love Battery album and I was excited that Amazon had a vinyl version for sale. That said, I was very disappointed when it showed up in the mail and I saw that they had cut three tracks from the original version to cram it onto one record. I was expecting it to be one of those stretched out, two LP reissues with all the songs from the CD version, especially for $30, but it is not. I understand sometimes a move like this makes sense economically-speaking but in this case I feel like it really took away from the grandeur of the album and changed the feel of it as well. To make matters worse, some of the songs that didn't make the cut are far superior to some of the songs that did. "Transcendental Fornication" was one of the best and, well, most transcendent songs on the original; it's nowhere to be found here. Instead the vinyl reissue closes with the insipid 90s Rock drone of "Monkey Brain," a tune it could have done without altogether. That brings up another issue with the reissue: they reordered the tracks a bit and at places it makes for a disjointed listen. "Faithful" closed out the original version of the album nicely, not unlike "23 Modern Stories" on Dayglo. Here it's the last song on side one and feels out of place. "Cute One" was much earlier in the track listing on the CD version, befitting of the catchy little punk ditty that it is. On the vinyl version it makes for a hodgepodge penultimate track, dragged down by its musical neighbors. It's still nice to have a copy of Confusion Au Go Go on vinyl but whenever I listen to it, I'll always think of what could have been if this reissue had been handled more reverently.

I only became a rabid fan of Love Battery about two years ago. I was exposed to a short clip of them performing the song Right Between the Eyes while watching the Seattle Music Documentary "Hype" That short snipit of that song inspired me to go out and seek my first L.B. CD purchase which was "Straight Freak Ticket". I was floored! I soon purchased my next L.B. CD which was Dayglo. I was stunned! I just bought my third L.B. CD "Confusion A Go Go" I was Blown Away! I only have two other artist in my extensive music library that have three great CD's. And I havn't even got all of Love Battery's yet!

I usually listen to a work, performance, or band at least 3 times before I form an opinion. I listened to "Confusion" 5 times before writing this review. This album sounds more like a better version of older material (a la Between The Eyes or Dayglo). What's missing in this album is the musical execution that was present on both Far Gone and Straight Freak Ticket (still their best release to date). The musical layering is why Straight Freak Ticket was so enjoyable. Far Gone had great melodies so there was no need for lots of harmonies.
I give this album a 4 star rating because I like Love Battery. If you want to buy a Love Battery album buy this one, but also buy Far Gone and Straight Freak Ticket (The melodies are a bit more mature and the lyrics are at their creative peak).
Love Battery has gone forward with their careers after Atlas Records gave up on them, but I want to hear more songs like Rust Belt,Confusion, Monkey Brain, and Angel Head.

Greetings to all alternative grunge listeners out there..Grunge is not Dead..The seattle sound has left its mark on music..Bands like Nirvana, Mudhoney , Soundgarden have always topped the charts,,but here comes the Best Underground Band I've heard in a while,,Its Love Battery, and the album Confusion AU gogo..It's Sweet,,with good lyrics and melodic tunes..Grunge BABY..Colorblind is the best ever..This band reminds me of Nirvana and KUrt Cobain,,simply pure and Vigorous in Sound,,I give this CD a four star,, YOU"VE GOT TO GET IT...IT ROCKS..
