Brilliant album--Don't buy the 2016 reissue on vinyl--I've returned two now due to many skips in the same places on Side 2. The song star skips multiple times in the same spots. See the other reviews and you'll find that this is a problem with their masters, or how they were all manufactured. Sucks.

This is a fabulous album, and one I've wanted in my collection for quite some time. However, the quality of this brand new remaster left a lot to be desired. "Star," a really good song on the B-side, skipped all over the place. I changed the stylus, cleaned the turntable and inspected the record before testing it again-- only to find it always skipped in the same places, and always on that one track and no other. For this being a $20 record fresh out of the plastic, it was very disappointing. I returned it and found an original release on ebay for $17.

Do Not Buy The 2016 Vinyl Reissue - Bad Pressing!

I am yet another customer who ordered the 2016 vinyl reissue who has experienced skipping on side 2. My first copy was all but unlistenable. Not only did "Star" skip repeatedly, "Hang on to Yourself" did as well. I returned and ordered another copy. This copy has skips as well. However, only "Star" skips and it only skips twice. Weird. Figure it out Amazon! This is a bad pressing! Then again bad on me for not researching a bit before I bought this reissue. I own Hunky Dory and Aladdin Sane from the same reissue campaign and they sound wonderful, with cool packaging that faithfully replicates the original issues. Sucks.

So as a prefice, this album is 10/10. The following review is more so in regards to this pressing.

So fresh from the package today, I played it. Side 1 was flawless, and from side 2 Lady Stardust played flawlessly. But then from Star onward, there is constant skipping. Star is downright unlistenable and the other songs afterward become hard to listen to because if the skips. I plan to contact Amazon about this, but I'm wondering if others have experienced the same thing?

I was reading the reviews for the vinyl reissue of Ziggy Stardust and I have to agree this is terrible. I was looking to have a second copy on vinyl since my clear 90's reissue is getting on and I wanted a backup. This is not the backup anyone wants, side 2 is terrible! I, like so many others have had the worst experience with this reissue, it skips and pops no matter what. I replaced the first copy I received, writing off the issue I had as poor packaging (it was under 2 12-packs of water), but this copy is the same as the first, side two skips and Star is unlistenable. I want to relive the whole rise and fall, skips that cut entire lines of a song don't make for a good story or a happy Ziggy Stardust experience, I am returning this and will probably wait for the next reissue, hopefully waiting no longer than 5-10 years.

I played the lottery and lost, so many complaints about skipping defects and they are all true.
Star just skips right the way through the song.
Awful quality control by the pressing plant.
Amazon time to withdraw this item from sale.

Amazon assured me this defective product would be removed from sale, yet here it is available again when every person is leaving 1 star reviews because all this vinyl is defective.

It's quite clear from all the other people weighing in on the exact same issue that this is a universally defective pressing of this album. I've now gone through 2 copies of it and they all skip like crazy in the exact same places: track 2, side 2. Other spots as well. Amazon should pull this off sale, and the manufacturer should own up!

If You Love Bowie's Music, You Will Love These Two - Two Disc Sets

I have always loved this particular disc, whether on vinyl or cd, extra tracks or no extra tracks. The remastering on this disc is superb and Mick Ronson's guitar really rings out with a crystal clarity that can't be beat! There's no need to go through a track by track as far as the original album is concerned other than it has great remastering. But the extra tracks are wow! The Arnold Corns versions of "Moonage Daydream" and the even greater version of Arnold Corns "Hang On To Yourself" are really fantastic and if I might add are totally different from the originals. While "Moonage Dream" sounds a bit more funky, "Hang On To Yourself" is a more danceable acoustic version. When I first heard "Hang On To Yourself" I was floored I loved it so much. Also, "The Supermen" has an alternative beginning, a little more acoustic as compared to the original version on the album "The Man Who Sold the World". I suggest, if you can, get yourself a copy this 30th Anniversary Edition and also, the 30th anniversary edition of "Aladdin Sane".. If you love Bowie's music, you will love these two - two disc sets. Also, if you are able to acquire the other anniversary sets, Aladdin Sane and Space Oddity are also excellent. TheAladdin Sane that I have is just like the Ziggy Stardust cover - hardbound while the Space Oddity cover is a digipak cover that opens to reveal an angle cut puch with song list sheet and booklet. It also happens to be British whereas the other hardbound covers are domestic.
