Brand new unopened box- turn on the machine and it makes a loud noise then it won't stop beeping! And none of the keys even work! Called the manufacturer's customer service and they were unable to help either... So disappointed. My first typewriter is a horrible experience! F.Y.I.- it doesn't help that the product wasn't shipped until a week later too!

Good enough for a 91-year-old!

My 91-year-old parent wanted something easy to work with, she said, "at least as easy as the Underwood I learned on." Well, her expectations were met. She was surprised that there was a cord for electricity for it but was pleased with the ease of using it and learning how to make it work for her. We love it!

Cheap Product/Don't buy it

This was and is a disappointing product. My daughter received this as requested gift from Santa. 3 days later the Daisy Wheel broke. The letters crossed and bent over each other making it impossible to type. Brother Customer service was poor. Trying to get the product piece replaced by Brother was difficult. I was on hold for over 30 minutes. This is a cheaply made product and a big disappointment. Don't buy it.

Update: *We continue to wait for the Daisy Wheel that Brother said that they would send in replacement. Costumer service said we would receive a call back from the company within 4 hours of the original call. Needless to say, that has happened either.*

Can't say too much since I have never owned a typewriter before but I did order this as a Christmas gift for my daughter who plans on becoming a writer some day. We unboxed it just today and it was packaged very well. All looks great and works wonderfully. It's been many, many years since I typed on a typewriter, since school days. I believe this was a good purchase and hope it lasts for many years to come. Time will tell.

Great electronic typewriter. I actually hacked into the keyboard to modify it so I could control the typewriter from a computer through Arduino, and it was relatively easy to find the right lines and interpret the scan codes.
