Works great but way too expensive for a 20 year old design.

This adb-to-usb adapter allowed me to connect my ancient (but awesome) Apple Extended Keyboard II to my current Macs, as I knew it would, since I'd used these years ago when the first USB Macs started coming out. Unfortunately, there's still no positive means of keeping the adb device plugged into the adapter - just friction. It would be nice if there was some type of clip or strap to keep things connected so that pins won't get damaged if things get improperly pulled apart due to a tripping or snagging incident. Also, at roughly $60, the adapter is ridiculously over-priced ... especially since this appears to be the very same design that debuted in the late-1990s, and thus has been more than paid for since then. Frankly, I suspect that I would have been better off building my own adapter for about $20 using free plans available on the web.

Working perfectly for Apple Extended Keyboard II

I'm using this through my monitor's USB hub, then through a USB switcher. On the Mac, it's running OS X 10.8.5, and on the Windows machine, that's running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. Both machines recognized the keyboard with no glitches (OS X ran me through it's "which keyboard setup is this?" wizard-like operation, but it recognized it within a few keystrokes.) After years of collecting dust, "one of the greatest keyboards ever made" is back on my desk, helping me to work with a little less wrist strain and fewer flubbed keystrokes!

1980's ADB keyboards UNITE!

Assuming this is still available, I grabbed one to extend the use of my treasured 1980's ADB extended keyboard-I to the USB era Mac desktops. There is no substitute for real ALPS key-switches soldered to a PC-board with a steel backing chassis.

Apple Aluminum wireless keyboards with Chiclet keys look cool, but they are more show than go.

I'll take the Apple wireless multi-touch track-pad though!

Works with modern PCs perfectly!

I'm typing this review on an Apple IIgs keyboard made in the 1980s plugged into a Windows 7 PC. I love the feel and sound of the keys which no modern keyboard that I've tried (and I've tried a few) has reproduced. The problem that I faced was getting the old board, which uses and adb connector, to communicate with a modern day Windows and Mac OS computer. This adapter hit the requirement on the head perfectly!
There's no latency that I can tell. Key strokes are just as responsive as if I were typing on a modern keyboard. The PC detects the keyboard as just another plug and play USB keyboard and simply works! My Mac at work also works perfectly with the older keyboards. It even detects and treats the 'System Request' key just as Macs had in the late 80s early 90s, so don't hit control+open apple+sys-req unless your looking for an immediate reboot!
It's a great product to bring sadly discontinued hardware from the past into modern times. But the only gripe I have is that it's over forty dollars! Geez! I wish Griffin would make a few thousand more of this product to drop the price down a bit for people who want to enjoy the older tech but cant afford a second mortgage!

Works great on my 2011 i5 MacMini

Simple to use, and everything works. I have the 2011 i5 MacMini, and an Apple Extended Keyboard II. Just plug it in and start typing.

Apple has this fun feature on their OS, that popped up a dialog upon plugging in my older Apple Standard Keyboard, saying that this is a new unrecognized keyboard. It then asked me to press the key right of the left shift key. After pressing that key, OS X said we are ready to go :-) That keyboard also works perfectly. No need to install drivers or anything else... I have Mac OS Lion.

I also tried this with adb keyboard and mouse (Apple ADB Mouse II) and it worked perfectly!

Easy to use product that's hard to find other places

I was overjoyed to find this product so that we could use some old Alphasmart 2000s at my school with students. I've used these in the past and they weren't really durable for repeated use year after year by different students. However, they have been very difficult to find and are the only thing that works with Alphasmarts that don't have USB cables. They are very easy to use, just simply plug the appropriate ends in (you need to have the Mac Y cable that comes with the Alphasmart 2000). These worked fine with the PC, but I've used them in the past with Macs also. Had a great experience with the company that sold them so no complaints about them. I will probably order more as I fear that they won't be around much longer, and this is the only place I've found them so far.

Hey - IGNORE the dummy who left a bad review on this item, when he never bought or tried it (DUH!). I'm an Apple Mac tech, and after researching this item, I could see no reason why it wouldn't work with Mac OS 10.4 and my Intel Mac Mini. After all, OS X still supports generic ADB stuff. Asking it to support 3rd party ADB devices like Wacom tablets that require specific drivers is pressing your luck, but I figured my old ADB Datadesk Trackboard (combo keyboard & trackball) would work. Sure enough, I plugged it in and restarted, and without any drivers being installed it worked great. Even the power key works (a missing feature I really miss on the newer Apple keyboards). I'm running OS 10.4.11, and my old Trackboard is still doing the job. Thanks Griffin, and of course Apple!
