Sound quality is perfectly fine, unless you have the ears of Steve Austin

Unless you have the ears of a bat or the Bionic Man, don't put too much stock into those reviewers complaining of the sound quality. If you're a fanatic audiophile, then sure, you'll find something to complain about (that seems to be the definition of "audiophile" anyway). For the rest of us who just love to listen to vinyl records and have a stereo system that doesn't cost as much as our house, these reissues sound just fine. In fact, they sound great. Quality, heavy vinyl, nicely done sleeve and jacket. It is, as Mick said, "only rock 'n roll", after all. Put it on, turn it up, rock it out.

Why are "New" vinyl record pressings so bad?

This is only about the pressing of this record.(the music is timeless!) It's mediocre at best. Not sure what the problem is but ALL "new" pressings of records seem to filled with a ridiculous amount of surface noise. It would appear absolutely nobody not even The Beatles re-pressings are immune from this. I have lots of well played records that are 30,40 even 50 years old,that have less surface noise then these new 180g,remastered pressings.
It would seem the art of actually pressing vinyl records is in bad need of saving! Knowledgeable people need to step up and help fix this. (fixing the outrageous prices would help too!) It's painfully clear,they don't need to be so heavy but they do need to be well pressed and properly too!

Another master work from the Stones during their best years. "No Expectations" is by far my favorite tune on the album, a poignant swan song for Brian Jones, who lays down some heartbreakingly beautiful acoustic slide guitar on the cut. The guys sound like they had a blast recording this one!

I must have listened to this thousands of times on vinyl and 2002 digital streaming cd. Hi quality equipment. I can still be amazed with the sophistication of the music and quality of the recording. Just yesterday listening to the last few bars of Salt of the Earth, amazing nuances on this cd. And I must say this may be the best balanced album of the stones both in that the recognized classics on the cd are, or can be, overshadowed by the lesser known songs on the cd. Sympathy for the Devil followed by the Prodigal Son, salt of the earth, casting pearls before swine. There is a lot of dimension on many planes. I believe this audio cd digitally streamed clearly beats my original print vinyl: I can't say that about any other vinyl to cd comparison in my library. Leave it to the Stones to get it right. On that front check out 1972 Ladies & Gentlemen BLU ray for an historic film effort of great live Stones -- getting it right as usual. I was there and they captured the sound true.Long live The Rolling Stones!

Perfect Condition and Interesting Note About Remastering

The CD was shipped with the standard 3-5 business days but arrived two days later! This item is processed and shipped very quickly. I recommend standard shipping since it arrived so soon without paying additional fees.

The CD arrived in shrink wrap and upon opening contained no scratches or other imperfections. The sound quality is amazing thanks to the remastering by the ABCKO company who owns the rights the Rolling Stones music from the 1960's to 1971.

Normally, I would have bought this on iTunes as I have done with other Rolling Stones albums in the past but there is a certain appeal about having a hard copy of the CD with the artwork and inside cover. The quality of which is great.

Interesting note about the sound quality, for those of us who bought the original vinyl record in 1968 regarding the sound remastering about the music. I noticed the songs seemed very clear and a little bit faster than the original vinyl. The sound on this CD was the intended version for the vinyl record but an error slowed the music. I highly recommend this product for those who would like to hear what the Rolling Stones intended in 1968 however it is quite fun to listen to the vinyl record of this album and compare the differences in sound.

Crown jewel of the Stones catalogue

Bought the Hybrid SACD in the digipak. Had no idea that the audio quality of any Stones album could ever be this good. To the careful ear, the DSD mastering of all these 2002 Stones releases might be a tiny bit hotter than I'd have preferred, but I'm nit picking. In general, great detail and dynamics. It's the best that the Stones have ever sounded, and IMHO - this is the best of all their albums. Best release of the best album? Is the UHM SACD release better? Maybe a tiny bit? Haven't heard it but for the prices being asked for those Japanese re-issues, I'd think twice before passing on this original Hybrid SACD.
