Read more Read more	Seems adequate By Balkanophile on December 8, 2016 Verified Purchase Pros: Cheap, basically works okay, USB powered, works in Linux Cons: Pretty much needs two hands to operate, had trouble reading a few things but can't be sure it's the device's fault I was reasonably happy with this. It worked satisfactorily both in Windows 10 and in Ubuntu Linux. There were a few disks that could not be read, they were the same make and age as others that had all sat together in their individual plastic protective sleeves inside a closed box for years on a shelf (i.e., i'm not comparing a well-treated disk with another that was used as a coffee coaster). I suppose time-related deterioration of magnetically stored data is random to some extent (maybe like a half-life? after a certain time half your disks will fail?) nevertheless i have to wonder if a better device might have been able to access those disks. I was very pleased with the fact that the drive does not have to be plugged into a separate power supply, it is powered by the USB. I had to get used to just getting the disks in and out since i've only ever used drives that were mounted in the computer case. This is extremely light weight, you can't just hold your disk in one hand, put it up to the slot, and shove. The thing will just scoot away. You pretty much have to hold it with one hand while inserting the disk with the other. Maybe if you put it under a big dictionary or something to hold it down? But it seems so flimsy, i would worry about it being deformed under pressure, perhaps breaking or malfunctioning. Likewise to eject the disk, you have to push a button and again two hands are best to hold it while pushing the button. I have a pretty big hand so i could actually grip the back end of it with my fingers while squeezing the eject button with my thumb but others may find that difficult. If the cable came out the side instead of the back, then you could but the back up against something solid and insert and eject disks without the device sliding away from you.
