I purchased this card brand new many years ago when I rebuilt my current system, and it worked like a champ until I moved my computer, and busted the unique proprietary video out on the old card. I went and bought an refurbished card for the fraction of a cost of a new card for an aging system with an AGP slot.
Result; magnificent. However, as of the day before yesterday, after less than a year of use, the on board heat-sink fan is not doing its job. Either that or the accelerator chips are getting hotter for some reason. And that's important, because it's not the entire card that gets hot, just the set of chips that accelerate the graphics.
I blasted the card with air and freon, but that's only a temporary solution, and as the hours wear on, the graphics only get worse.
I've purchased refurbished parts before, and they're always a little off kilter and a little clunky, but they worked. This one is just purely malfunctioning after a less than a year of use, which means that this specific card, not the design itself, had issues to begin with.
Otherwise the product is very solid. If you get a brand new one, then you should have no problems. As always with refurbished components, buyer beware.
