Talk about easy listening. The Grundig Etón S350 shortwave radio is brimming with style, portability, and functionality. With the S350, you aren't limited to shortwave signals--you get FM and AM radio, too. Shortwave enables you to hear stations from around the world. Get first-hand news and other programs direct from their sources. Listen to the BBC, CDC, Voice of America, DW Deutsche Welle, Radio Taipei International, and dozens of other broadcasting organizations. The S350 receives continuous coverage from 3 to 28 MHz, including 13 international broadcast bands: 11, 13, 15, 16, 19, 22, 25, 31, 41, 49, 60, 75 and 90 meters.
Use the S350's manual gain control to compensate for atmospheric and other conditions. With its excellent sensitivity and selectivity, the S350 can receive stations most radios can't, including weak daytime shortwave signals. Other features include a backlit multifunction LCD, a telescoping FM antenna, antenna jacks for SW, AM, and FM, as well as sleep and wake timers (wake to radio and use the S350 as an alarm clock).
The radio features a single speaker designed for clear sound. A .125-inch headphone jack (compatible with stereo or monaural headphones, not included) lets you listen in private, or you can route the unit's stereo analog (left/right) RCA outputs to your home stereo system, a tape deck, powered speakers, or other devices.
The S350 runs on 4 D batteries (not included), the supplied AC/DC power adapter, or an optional DC vehicle power adapter (12V to 6V DC).
Grundig's design-driven Etón line of portable-audio offers a graceful combination of form and function. Unique product design is the basis for all models, as well as functionality above and beyond other products in the same category. With features that satisfy high-tech, style-conscious listeners, Etón products have an added flare that will attract people seeking distinctive portable audio.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 9, 2019The unit weighs LOTS less now. The dial is electronic garbage. The, "Fast" setting broke right away, now it takes minutes to scan, on "slow" The, "Key Lock" button is always on, so it is frustrating to turn the unit on and off. I had an old GOOD one, but I dropped it. A new one, lasted 6 months. I then bot a used one, hoping it would be the old style, where it actually responded, when U turned the dial. But it was new garbage style. I would not pay more than 20 dollars, for a new (cheapened) unit.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 16, 2005I'd heard a lot of (mostly) favorable reviews regarding the Grundig S350, and finally broke down and bought one for myself. ($99.95 no tax no shipping). I'm very pleased with this purchase. Let's get to it.....
Strong points:
1) Good overall quality. Feels solid and substantial -- especially when the batteries are in place.
2) Excellent MW (or AM) reception with the internal ferrite antenna (made even better when I hook up my C Crane Twin Ferrite Antenna)
3) Very good FM reception
4) Shortwave seems to be as good or better than any of my several other SW receivers (although none of them are high-end) from a variety of manufacturers. I find that it's best with one of those 23' auxiliary antennas (not included, but 10 to 15 bucks), but the whip works great for a lot of channels.
5) Good sound from the speaker
6) Separate bass and treble controls
7) Analog 2-speed tuning knob is fun to use
8) Clock and alarm functions are easy to use
9) Battery life seems to be excellent -- it comes with an AC adapter, but I rarely bother with it.
10) External AM and FM antenna hook-ups
10) Nice design.
Not-so-strong points:
1) It's not a small radio, so it won't fit in your pocket or briefcase.
2) Some say the tuning is "drifty". I agree that there is minimal drift, but nothing that really bothers me.
3) No presets -- it's an analog tuner with a digital readout. You cannot preset stations, but that's part of the fun in my opinion, and the 2-speed tuning knob lets you either move real fast through the dial, or slow way down to pick up a weak or distant station.
This seems to be the kind of radio that will get a lot of use both in the house and outdoors. It's nice, but at a hundred bucks I don't feel like I have to baby it, and being able to get AM, FM or SW means there's always SOMETHING worth listening to.
I think this would make a great gift for somebody who spends a lot of time listening to AM and SW broadcasts. I know I would've loved to get it as a gift rather than buying it for myself, but I'm very pleased overall.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 27, 2012I'm enjoying this radio very much. Even my wife who has objected in the past about the static, high pitch whistle that sometimes comes with am broadcasts, enjoys the lower tone voice and clean reception while we listen to talk radio.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 25, 2021This was a piece of crap. The packaging was far from ideal. It included 6 ‘D’ batteries that were clearly already spent. I invested in some batteries from Costco and inserted them. The device started to emit a horrible smoky stench. I paid $30 to return it . I am awaiting a refund sans the cost of postage. I am now very careful with third party sellers although I heard they had a spectacular Prime Day. I should by that measure get a full refund.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 26, 2015This must have been a previously used receiver. Tuning on SW was not stable at all. MW and FM are OK.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 15, 2004I received the Grundig 350 two days ago. Since then I have listen to SW radio stations from all over the world, mostly in Europe. My main issue with the radio is drift. In order to listen to ANY shortwave station, I have had to adjust the frequency several times a minute. ShortWave is the worst. If I am not constantly tuning, I lose the station after 15 seconds. My experience is similar to others that I have read on the net. Unfortunately, I didn't see them until my order was already in-process. I couldn't cancel.
If you want a great sounding AM/FM radio, buy this product. If you are looking for a SW radio, look else where.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 24, 2006This radio sits next to my PC and is on while I on the PC.
I go camping up in the Sierra's most every weekend in the spring, summer and fall. And I listen to the short wave in the mountains. With all it's features and great sound plus being able to plug it in to my home stereo it's the best!!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 28, 2022I have had this radio before and loved it but they are no longer made. I ordered this one "used in good condition". The box had damage, it recked of smoke, there was no AC adapter and even with batteries, it did not work. What a waste of my time!
