Gorgeous & large—buy it with acrylic scratch remover
Amazon tells me I bought this cookbook holder in 2009, and I still love it! It holds basically any size of cookbook you can imagine; if the cookbook is really big, its edges will peek out behind the clear shield, but it will still support the book once you play with the slots on the back. In these instances, I sometimes slide the oversized book to one side so that the side with the recipe is completely shielded, and then I angle the stand so that the fully covered side is closer to whatever I’m chopping/mixing/sautéing/blending. I own over 300 cookbooks and have yet to find one that the cookbook holder cannot support. Even when a cookbook’s pages extend past the edges of the holder, it will still hold the book upright.Yes, this thing is huge, and it can be cumbersome at times. If you want or need something smaller, you won’t be happy with this one! If you only use your tablet or phone for recipes, you can skip this holder as well; find a smaller one that’s designed for electronic devices. Personally, I love that the holder is big enough that it works with any of my cookbooks, and I usually store my holder in the extra space next to our microwave to keep it safe and out of the way when not in use. I suggest figuring out where you’re going to store it before you buy it. Are your counters roomy enough to leave it out? If not, find somewhere else that will work. Yes, you can easily collapse it down, but I find that I use mine more when I keep it assembled and within easy reach. Most 3-ring binders work well with the cookbook holder; the worst fit I’ve seen is with my truly enormous 3” D-ring recipe binder, but at least it holds the binder upright! Conversely, the holder also secures in place my smaller softbound cookbooks that have tight binding and pages that won’t stay open. When I print out a recipe, it holds one or two sheets perfectly as well. It holds my 12.9” iPad Pro without the iPad spilling past the edges on any side, whether the iPad is in landscape or in portrait orientation. I haven’t really used it for supporting my phone, since I usually need to zoom in or keep scrolling for recipe details as I cook or bake. When using the holder to support a tablet or a sheet or two of paper, I try to nestle the tablet/paper into one of the closer slots so that it doesn’t slide while in use.On to the most important part: maintenance. Your cookbook holder’s shield WILL get scratched over the years, and the scratches WILL build up to a cloudy-looking mess that you can’t read through if you’ve cleaned with soap and water (even carefully, and with gentle soap!). I was seriously ready to get rid of my holder, figuring it had had a good life and I should get something new, but I decided to give it one last shot and ordered acrylic cleaner and scratch remover from Amazon. I just used it today, and I’m stunned by how GORGEOUS my cookbook holder looks again! I bought the “NOVUS 7100 Plastic Polish Kit - 8 Ounce” set, which includes the NOVUS brand acrylic cleaner, light-scratch remover, and deep-scratch remover; I also purchased a set of microfiber cloths at the same time to use with the cleaner. After going in order through the steps for all three solutions and using the cleaner and heavy-scratch remover a second time, the shield is almost new again! I still have a few scratches, but they are faint. I will reapply the solutions as needed from now on. To clean the shield, I removed it from the holder after unscrewing the front hinge. I’m the type of person who’s afraid to mess with even easy DIY stuff, but removing the hinge and putting it back on was idiot-proof, even for me.I highly recommend this cookbook holder! If you choose to buy it, do yourself a favor and buy the cookbook holder along with some acrylic cleaner/scratch remover so that you’ll have it when you need it. I only wish I’d bought some sooner!——I’ve uploaded pictures to show different sizes of books/media being supported by the cookbook holder. I love this! I had been looking EVERYWHERE for a wood base (to match the wood in my kitchen) cookbook holder that also protected the pages. This one fits the bill EXACTLY. the construction is good, the materials are hardy it's easy to use, adjusts to different cookbook sizes, including some of the overly large ones I have, and it's made in the US.

There is one, only one thing I would change. I woukd make available a cover for the acrylic part. It folds up so nicely for easy storage, but I'm kind of lazy, so it's annoying to me to wrap and unwrap the parts with a tea towel. I am pretty sensitive to scratches and I *really* don't want it to get scratched, so I do cover it, I would just prefer if it could be easier.

One of my favorite things that I own! I have this on my kitchen island at all times. When there is no book in it, you can see right through it so it doesn't clutter the space visually. It is very sturdy and looks great. It's great for large and small cookbooks and for recipes that I just print right from the internet. Can even use it to protect a phone or tablet if that's easier than printing out recipes. The back piece of acrylic is adjustable into many slots so you can fit a number of books in there if you want. The front flips down on hinges making it very easy to turn the page even with one hand. I really love the design of this, and so glad to have the large size. I used to have a cheap wire holder that often collapsed, and my cookbooks have often been splattered with food. I was very hesitant to spend the money (this counted as my big Christmas present!), but it was money very well spent. This really protects my investment in my cookbooks, too. I would highly recommend this cookbook holder.

From the heaviest, fattest book, to a single piece of paper, this holder handles it all and does it well. I love the fact that it folds flat, so I can slide it in my cupboard when not in use. It is attractive enough that you could leave it on the counter with a nice book for display.

Pros:
It puts things at a proper angle for easy viewing
It keeps your recipes and books clean
It is well-built and very sturdy
You can easily clean it if it gets gooped up (unlike your cookbook)
You can use it to prop up books or pages while typing
Frees up counter space
It folds flat

Cons:
You should be a little careful not to scratch the acrylic - don't go putting it under cutlery or pots & pans

After using this, I find I hate to be without it. I've looked at many designs, but this is by far the best. I've also given it as a gift. It is not cheaply priced, nor cheaply made. It is built to last.

This item arrived in a prompt manner. I opened the bubble wrap and screws popped out across the counter. Ok, so no bag for the screws and no tape to keep them together. Minor details, they were all there. The two hinges were loose in the package as well. Ok. Next, the plexiglass was covered to protect from scratches, excellent. Last, I looked at the very rough edged base that was obviously not sanded and had no finish on it. And THIS is a kitchen item that will be exposed to moisture from steam etc.? We did some gentle sanding, smoothed the rough surface and removed the splinters from the edges. We also found a nice citrus wood finishing product that is a mixture of oil and wax. Now we have a beautiful, serviceable product that should function well in a kitchen environment. One point off because as a consumer I did not expect to purchase a craft project when the product was advertised as an item and not as a kit. The quality of the plexiglass is great. The wood is beautiful now that it has been sanded and treated. I am sure we will get many years of service from this stand.

This cookbook holder looks good and does a very good job of making the cook book readable and clean. It is very well made and just about transparent when it is without a book. I gave it only 4 stars for light weight because it could be lighter, but you wouldn't want it to be lighter because it would have a tendency to slide around when trying to put your cookbook in to it. It is a bit pricy, but well worth the extra dollours.

This is fantastic, keeps all my cookbooks open and where I can see them easily while cooking whilst protecting them from any accidental spills! You have to be just a little careful when putting in or removing books as I have on occasion had it fall 'apart' backwards, sliding across the bench and knocking things down. But that's more my fault for not being more careful than it is a design flaw. (When I say fall apart, it's not broken it's just that they 'acrylic sheet' that holds the back of the book in place is free standing to accommodate different sized books). I gave 4 and not 5 stars because I do think it's just a little expensive.
