Blue blocker lenses work well

I bought these glasses after reading in a medical journal that wearing blue blocker glasses from early evening until you go to bed helps you sleep better. And it works!

Nowadays humans are commonly awake much longer than we're designed to be. This is a result of the artificial lights we use to extend our days. Living as we do may well be an economic necessity but it isn't doing our bodies any good.

What is supposed to happen in our bodies is that once the sun goes down our bodies begin to produce melatonin. Melatonin helps prepare our bodies for rest and sleep. But extending our days with artificial lights has delayed the onset of melatonin production and this is often a causative factor in sleep shortages.

Blue blocker lenses help in this because they block the blue light waves that inhibit melatonin production. I wear my glasses from about 8 pm onward and have found my sleep has improved a lot.

At the minimal cost of these glasses I highly recommend that you give it a try. It could make a huge difference in your quality of life.

One warning! Don't take the glasses off, even for an instant, because as soon as blue light falls onto your eye melatonin production will stop.

Careful which company you buy from.

I had purchased 2 pair of these from Goggles and Glasses thru Amazon and they were great. I lost my pair and ordered a replacement pair from BP MEDICAL SUPPLIES and they were the same "color" but extremly light in tint and when I tried to call them on the customer service number that Amazon provided, all I got was an answering machine. I would rate the first 2 pair from Goggles and Glasses at 5 stars tho.

Good product, with qualifications

Ad is misleading. It says the lens are "Blue-Blockers" -- which is a slight variation of the name of a popular sunglass, "BluBlockers". And in the picture, the seller's glasses appear to be the same shade of amber BluBlockers. On receiving them, however, I found that the shade was at least 50% lighter. I also could not find any mention of "Blue-Blocker" on the packaging, or even that they were sunglasses. And - based on looking at a blue LED light -- the actual blockage of blue light is far less.

I attempted to contact this seller 3 times in order to return them; got a recording; left messages, got no response.

UPDATE: Notwithstanding these problems, I've come to conclude that product itself is not bad; it fits very well, and, though they aren't blublockers, they don't (similar to blublockers in this respect) darken the light excessively -- yet(in what I overlooked earlier) the packaging does say they block 99% of harmful UV rays. So I decided to keep them after all. Were this review based simply on the product, I would, particularly in light of its price, give it 5 stars. Since it does block some blue light (which appears to be the case with any amber glasses) the "Blue-Blocker" term is probably defensible.[Not really; see UPDATE 2.] But, with respect to the shading, the picture is not accurate; and, at the time I wanted to return them, I couldn't.

UPDATE 2: In light of Mark H. Dewey's comment, I realize now that the glasses do not block blue light at all. I thought they did before because, in my "test," they reduced the brightness of the blue LED light. But, as Dewey points out, if they blocked blue light, the color of the light would change. Or, if the light was pure blue, I wouldn't see any light at all (which is what occurred when I looked with my real BluBlockers.) Claiming these glasses block blue light is pure misrepresentation, and I'm reducing my rating further, from 4 to 3 stars.

On a more positive note, these glasses fit so well that I have covered the lenses of one with duct tape and use it as a sleeping mask -- they're cooler and less noticeable than an actual mask -- but you do have to be a little more careful when you're sleeping on your side.

Just OK for sleep assistance

I bought these as Blue Blocker glasses to block out the blue-white spectrum at night to help me get to sleep by enhancing melatonin production. They are not nearly as dark as they appear in Amazons's photo, not as dark as some others I have seen. They look more yellow-orange rather than the red-orange color shown in the photograph. That being said, I think they do help. I get a little sleepier watching TV with them at night than without them (that's my objective-to be able to watch TV without it keeping me awake). And, if I have to get up and walk around and the house is relatively dark, I can keep these on and still see fairly well in low light. A darker pair would be difficult to use inside with low light, so for walking around, looking in the fridge, brushing your teeth and still getting the blue-spectrum blocking effect, I think they are quite good. I also think they are great glasses for driving, they really increase the contrast and make a hazy/cloudy day seem more cheerful. The lenses scratched very quickly on my pair; I did not have them in a protective case nor was I excessively cautious with them, but they did develop some slight scratches very quickly that don't make them unusable but the one lens is a bit "cloudy" to look through. For the $5 price I think they are a good deal and worth trying for sleep enhancement and I love them for driving.

Light Orange In Color

I put "Red lens sunglasses" in the Amazon search engine and these came up at the top. The photo of the sunglasses makes the lens look red. My son wanted "Red Lens", so I quickly ordered them. When they arrived, the lens were a light orange in color...much closer to yellow. It was my mistake that I didnt read he advertisement better. But since the wording says "Copper Blue Blocker", I thought that it was a "Copper AND Blue blocker" lens. These were NOT a hit....
