The XP-625 is an ideal power supply for your school lab. It has a DC output (UN-regulated, UN-filtered) from 0-30 volts at up to 5 amps, and an AC output (UN-regulated, UN-filtered) of 0-40V at up to 5 amps. The voltage adjust knob controls all three outputs while the volt and amp meters display the desired setting. 625 Specifications : Input voltage 120VAC - Output voltage 0-30VDC, 5A max. - Output voltage 0-40VAC, 5A max. - Output voltage 0-110VAC, 2.5A max . This product is intended for applications where high voltage variance and fluctuations can be tolerated. The voltages produced by this power supply are not filtered or regulated and can result in damage to sensitive devices. The meter displays the average voltage, peak voltages are higher (60V for DC, +/- 60V for AC).

Very heavy duty and works like a champ. I purchased to do some etching and it's awesome to be able to switch back and forth from AC to DC. The only issue is the AC side doesn't tell you +or - which i didn't think was a big deal, but when you etch stainless or aluminum it seems too make a big difference to me in the time it take to have the - on the material and the + on the etching head. Otherwise...great product. I had an old one that crapped out after 3 uses because I cranked it up a little...this thing is a solid workhorse and have had no issues with it.

Build Quality was Ok, Operation Was Dissapointing

I bought this because it was low cost, and I needed a basic AC supply, the DC was a bonus. I knew it was unregulated, but I thought the waveform would be a bit better than what I saw on the scope. Even their little waveform diagrams in the manual were not exactly as described. Basically, this unit will give you a chopped portion of the AC sine wave while adjusting for lower voltages under the max AC output. At Max, the AC is a decent sine wave which was about 50 Volts. Anything under that and you only get a portion of the Sine wave which is clipped. The DC has massive ripple because it's not regulated so keep in mind that this power supply is for crude usage such as other transformers and motors that do not need a constant linear voltage. I can however find a few uses for it but was a bit disappointed and thought it would be a little better that what it actually is. I will post some scope waveforms soon.
