Avoid it. This is a very old product with severe limitations. Useless for modern cards

My recommendation is to avoid this product.

I tried to install it on Dell D620 which is four years old laptop. Installation failed. Reading Sandisk forums about this product was extremly sobering.

But the adapter was instantly recognized and works fine with Dell C620/C820 laptops running Windows XP SP3 which are probably twice older.

Ability to read/write your card depends on capacity. Sandisk site does not have any real information about the product. No drivers, no manual, nothing. In the absence of documentation I think working hypothesis about cards compatibility should be based on an excellent earlier review by Xin Dou (June 28, 2006):

I tested it with 128 MB SD card and 256 MB xD card. Both are readable/writable. Then I tested it with 8 GB SD card. It was not even recognized by computer.

I think for the laptop the rule of thumb is that if you have ton of small size cards (below 1G) and your laptop is more then seven years old or is explicitly mentioned as compatible in at least one review, you might try it. In all other cases you better avoid it and try to find other solutions. USB readers are pretty safe cheap and you can get 58 MB/sec transfer rate for HC cards without problems.

Please note that many positive reviews are from people who wrote just one review.

Working in Mercedes new E-Class E350 with 16GB SD card

for my fellow new E-class Mercedes owners (mine is E350 with HDD DVD changer - code 512) this card works great for all the functions you want to do with the PC-Card slot in your car .

Works great for transferring data (i.e. Address book vCard) or just simply listening to music off of it (i.e. MP3). Transfer all your music to an SD card of your choice and leave the rest of the cd changer for movies. Trust me, it'll be $$ well spent...

p.s. I am posting this to confirm that it works with SD cards bigger than 1 GB (mine is 16 GB SDHC) ... opposite to what others are sayin (earlier post by Xin Dou (IA, US) )

Perfect for Honda Navigation Systems

I purchased this PC Card adapter to use with the factory navigation music player in my 2010 Honda Fit. This navigation system is able to play music off SDHC memory cards by using them with a PC card adapter (like this product that I'm reviewing). The documentation from Honda lacks detail as to what PC card adapters are compatible with their unit and so I bought this card adapter based on some guidance from forums on the internet. I'm pleased to announce that I've been using this specific adapter for over 3 months now and everything works really well. I have it paired with a high capacity (8GB) SDHC card and I have it currently filled with over 2 GBs of music. There's nothing like having a bulk of my music library available to play at the touch of a fingertip in my car without relying upon constantly plugging and unplugging an ipod into my car stereo. Using a PC card adapter results in a cleaner, stock, look without extraneous wires running between an external player and the car stereo.

My only complaint is that the honda unit takes a long time (10 seconds) or more to start playing music from the moment that I select the feature to music from the PC card...this time has progressively gotten longer as I've put more songs on the card. However, this is likely not the fault of PC card adapter that I'm currently reviewing.

An Excellent Product!

At first I thought that this adapter wasn't being recognized by my 3 year old Compaq 2700T laptop when I first inserted it, and then I discovered that it becomes recongized when you insert any one of the 6 media card types into it. When I put a Secure Digital card into it the adapter and the card's 'contents' were immediately recognized. All pictures on the card were successfully downloaded to the hard drive.

I have not tried any of the other media card types yet, but I have no reason to believe that they shouldn't behave just as well as the Secure Digital card.

This was a GREAT choice I made! This gives me one more option for making sure that I am able to download and store my digital pictures. Buy it if you have a notebook PC and need an 'extra' option for downloading 'your' digital pics. Also, I would not get it unless you have 2 or more varieties of media cards.

Be aware that this card adapter does not allow for downloading the Compact Flash variety of media card; for that, there is another adapter product by SanDisk for the Compact Flash variety.

I hope I have helped somebody with this review.

Excellent product, excellent service from the seller

This product works no prob with my Acura CSX' navigation that came with the car (the same one that some of the 8th gen Civic models come with). So far it's worked with every memory card I've tried it with (8GB microSD in and SD adapter although a tad laggy, 2GB microSD card in SD adapter, and 32MB SD card). In fact, I mainly got it because my navigation unit is being replaced under warranty from the dealership, and they claim that it's not possible to back my data up from my GPS, where-as there is actually an option for doing so via the PC card slot on the unit.

The shipping was really quick (sent next business day with next day delivery), however I wish that there was a cheaper option for shipping it to Canada as it ended up costing me more than the price of the item.

The seller really quick at responding to questions as well and therefore top of the line.
