Perfect size for home pizza chefs

This is a good size for making pizza at home. I prepare my pizzas on parchment paper, then use this to slide the pizzas (on the paper) into the oven onto my pizza stone. After cooking for 1 min, I remove the parchment paper by using the pizza peel and an oven mitt. This is the only technique I've found for getting pizzas in.
This peel is really good for turning the cooking pizza and removing it from the oven.
Like another reviewer did, I took sandpaper and sanded down the edges- they were very sharp to begin with and I wanted this peel to be safe.

Top quality professional peel.

An excellent product for retrieving pizza from the oven. It slides easily, even under thin-crust pizza, as well as bread, buns and naan. When assembling pizza on the peel, it's important to dust the peel with plenty of cornmeal or semolina first, then work quickly to form and load the pizza so it won't stick. But that's a common problem with all solid metal peels. Dusting the pizza dough with flour, before placing it on the peel, for helps as well.
The peel itself is very well made out of quality materials, so this one is a bargain.

I got this so I could use a pizza stone at home. Works as expected and is very sturdy. Slides under the pizza fine. Takes a bit to learn how to slide the pizza off without messing it up but it's just like everything, once you get the hang of it, it's much easier. I like it. One thing I'd like to mention is that the "peel" part is 12 inches wide but only about 10 inches from the front to the bend for the handle mount. I'm sure you could make a pizza up to the 12 inch width but you'd be onto the moulding (still part of the peel) for the handle. Not sure if that's an issue because I don't make any pizza that big but thought I'd mention it.

Great Pizza Peel - Just Dumb User

This peel is great. no more burnt fingers. Just don't do like I did on the first use and forget to put something like cornmeal on the peel so the pizza slides easily. I hand New-York Style dough, home made pizza sauce, fresh Italian sausage, potabella mushrooms, lots of fresh grated mozzarella, and fresh Parmesan. All the ingredients except the dough ended on the pizza stone, and all over the inside of the over. Oh, and the oven was set to 500 degrees for proper New-York Style pizza, which means smoke everywhere and the smoke detectors beeping away.

This is a basic peel. Cheaper than black stones, and I got next size up. Metal edges are not sharp like some other reviews I read. Rivets were ok with alignment. Only issue I seen was handle was little rough, I used some fine grit sandpaper and sanded it a tiny bit now it’s smooth. I will lacquer it soon so don’t have worry about any slivers. I might drill a hole to attach a rope to hang it up, haven’t determined where I’m gonna store it at.

The quality is meh. Rough edges and not the best peel out there. You get what you pay for with this. It workd fine. Can be improved if you have some sandpaper and a file to clean off and deburr the edges. Seriously, what do you expect to get for the price? It won';t win any quality awards. Just clean it up yourself, put some Watco on the handle and call it good.

Poorly finished but easy to fix

This “American Metal Craft” peel is poorly finished. The wooden handle isn’t smooth, the main metal body of the peel has been cut or stamped out and is rough/sharp to touch and the riveted section is bowed up on the corners and pointy. It’s understandable given the price and I bought it knowing it’d need work.

I spent 5 -10 mins with a couple of tools and it’s now vastly improved.
I used 400 then 800 grit sandpaper on the handle and finished with mineral oil. I used a fine emery cloth on the metal edges and tapped down the riveted section with a couple of light taps of a hammer.

Now the peel is how the artisanal “crafts people” at “American Metal Craft” should have sold it.
