Product Description
The Presidents Of The United States Of Americas 1995 debut went double platinum in the U.S., rocketed all the way to #6 on Billboards Top 200, produced three Top 40 hits & a #1 single on Billboards Modern Rock Chart, and garnered two Grammy nominations and a gaggle of critical praise. You either loved this record or you loved it.
The band is back and, believe it or not, they once again own this album. Theyve chosen NAIL to distribute it, which is in line with their renewed esprit de corps and desire to keep things friendly and local this time around. The album is on the bands own PUSA Music label, headquartered in their hometown of Seattle, just up the road from NAILs Portland HQ. Getting the rights to this classic debut back from Sony precipitated the bands recent much anticipated reunion.
The Presidents played their first show in five years on New Years Eve 2002, and in the last year and a half theyve continued gathering steam. The new songs originally recorded for the re-release of their debut became a whole new album, 'Love Everybody,' which produced the current radio hit "Some Postman." The band has been touring the U.S. this summer and fall in support of that release, and will continue with dates in major markets through the end of 2004.

The Presidents of the United States of America scratch that itch that you can't reach. They do and say all those things that you'd like to, but fear what people might think of you. They are your inner-child, but stinking drunk on a half-case of cheap beer. And, with the youthful appeal of the Dead Milkmen, the off-kilter storytelling of Primus, and a razor-sharp sense of irony, they are utterly undeniable.
Try, if you will, not to sing along with "Lump." It sticks in your brain after the first chorus and won't leave until you hear something supremely catchy just to scrape the chorus out of heavy frontal lobe rotation. Musically, they keep everything very minimal (they have only five strings between bassist Chris Ballew and guitarist Dave Dederer) and use their incredibly twisted wit to engage the listener. From the punkish "Lump" and "We Are Not Gonna Make It" to the funky "Boll Weevil," the Presidents are the perfect antidote to the serious, heavy-handed rock perpetuated by their Seattle brethren. --Adem Tepedelen
Review
"A laser-sharp collection of songs written with two things in mind: rocking hard and having fun." -- Alternative Press

5.0 out of 5 stars How bad can a cd be when your 4 yr old daughter requests it every day in the car?
A couple funny notes of why this cd rocks in more ways than one.If you ever feel the world is giving you a good bashing all you need is this cd to lighten everything up:) If your kids are not having a good morning put this cd on but get ready to turn down kitty at the bridge of the song:) My daughter hates it when I turn down the song at that part. She is only 4 but sings almost every song on the cd. We have a little hill close to her school that has big ruts and major craters I call it the Dune Buggy hill so most mornings on the way to school we put DB on and drive down the bumpy hill working out the shocks:) Im bummed I havent seen these guys live yet only living 2 hrs away from Seattle its on the top ten things to do if they do some live shows again. Ten years ago I passed on these guys perferring the Aic, Soundgarden type stuff but how can you not be a fan of these guys? One of the best cds ever!!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 28, 2020Every song is good every time it's played. It's so good.
Also, I wrote a letter to these guys when I was 10. In the letter I asked them for an autograph on this album cover so I could give it to my dad for his birthday. Not only did they sign it, they doodled and stuff and said happy birthday to my dad. Thanks duuuudes that is vived and awesome memory!
I have the cover somewhere. I'll take a pic once i find it and update the review.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 9, 2009If you grew up in the 90s, you should have this album, if you were born, ever, you should have this album, if there was only one Presidents album you could ever own... You should grab this one, then grab POUSA II, then let them fight it out for themselves!
If you already own this album, put it away, take it to a show someday and have them sign it, and buy this album to play, and for the DVD.
As a fan, this is a must have, and it's perfect if you're just coming to think 'damn the Presidents are good... maybe I should buy one of their albums'. You should. You should buy them all... Don't believe me, give a listen, and if they aren't the most fun you've ever heard... You work in an amusement park of awesomeness and glee and rock... and more awesomeness.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 28, 2014This special release celebrates the 10 year anniversary of their multi-million selling original album release with Columbia Records in 1995, and includes two discs - a music CD and a DVD. The music CD includes: [1] all 13 songs from their 1995 CD (which includes their two biggest hits - Lump and Peaches - as well as the very popular Kitty); [2] six songs from the band's independent days prior to signing with Columbia (Confusion, Candy Cigarette, Wake Up, Carolyn's Booty, F**k California, & Puffy Little Shoes); and [3] seven demo versions of songs from the 1995 album. The DVD includes the MTV music video for Lump, the band's original video for Lump that was deemed "too violent" by MTV, the music video for Peaches (including the ninja fight scene portion MTV again deemed too violent to show), the music video for Mach 5, an intimate live performance of Jupiter, a live performance of Volcano with Washington State Governor Gary Locke introducing the band and shouting the "Volcano" refrain of the song, a live version of Lunatic to Love, and a studio video of Tiny Explosions. The DVD also has an option where you can hear commentary from the band as each video plays, but doesn't have any other special features.
