The keyboard is not sold alone, so one has to get the combo. I love this keyboard! The keys are very responsive and as they are only 1/4th of the hight of most the other keyboards, they really help to type fast. Love the triggerpoint on then and the klicking sound of the keyboard is nice and solid. It has all the buttons on it that I need and combinded with the small size and very sleek design, it makes for a great keyboard. Again, I bought it again because the old one was worn out. The mouse I don't like as much. It is big and heavy. I don't need all of the buttons on it and would prefer a smaller size mouse. I like the charging cradle though. I did not intall the Multimedia pad/Bluetooth hub. Don't need it and keyboard/mouse work without it. Installation was very easy. Plugged the Bluetooth dongle in, paired it with keyboard and mouse, and that was it. Keyboard works perfectly, mouse sometimes stops responding for 10 - 20 seconds and then resumes work as normal. Happened three times in a month of use. Annoying at the moment, but in the grand scheme of things no big deal. Overall assessmet is that the keyboard to me is the best on the market. Tried many keyboards, but this one really is it all. The mouse is only ok. Would not prevent me from buying the package, but would also not be the reason to buy the package. I like the recharging mechanism on it. Did not install the Mulimedia pad as I never used it on my old DiNovo set. Bluetooth works well, with the occasional drop-out of the mouse. I liked the look and feel of their products. So when my old Logitech wireless keyboard/mouse finally started going south, I ordered the MX800 combo. Logitech seems to have some manufacturing and/or packaging problems with the combo. The first MX800 I received from Amazon stock had two key caps loose in the packaging. Ditto the second MX800 from Amazon stock. Amazon ordered the third MX800 through a third party, and still loose key caps in the packaging. Finally, the fourth MX800 again from Amazon stock had no defects. I should mention that the box containing the fourth keyboard had been opened so it appeared Amazon had inspected the keyboard before it was shipped. Kudos to Amazon customer service for their work to keep me a satisfied customer. PROS: Everything installed without a glitch (Windows 7). New Setpoint software so far appears bug free. Previous Logitech keyboard/mouse/software had a problem with random scrolling. Sometimes it just scrolled on its own. That problem is fixed. Big plus. LED on caps lock key. On-screen notification of caps lock, numlock, scroll lock, mute, volume up/down and other functions. Illuminated keyboard with adjustable brightness. (The level isn't saved so the next time you turn on the keyboard, it resorts to full brightness.) Mouse and keyboard are programmable to do almost anything you can think of. On/Off switches on keyboard and mouse to save battery. The keyboard and mouse can be programmed to do almost anything you can think of. A neat feature of the mouse is the smallish "zoom" button. One of my duties is to procure keyboards and mice for our users. There are the occasional special requests that come across my desk where users need a keyboard specific to their ergonomic or situational needs. This keyboard was one of those requests. The keyboard features fairly quiet keys, standard number pad, and a solar panel strip (eliminating the need to charge or replace batteries, although office lighting is required). I had a request for a keyboard that needed to have a lower key clacking volume when typed on (the user's next door neighbor was getting extremely irate when the user was using a standard dell keyboard). I ordered this and issued it to the user and had them report back to me if there were any issues. The user did not receive any more complaints from their next door neighbor about the key clacking. There were 2 other requests that were fulfilled and in these cases the keyboards failed to reliably connect to the included USB receiver. The keyboard was receiving adequate lighting from the office ceiling and was repaired using Logitech's free pairing software. In both cases, the keyboards would work for a while then become unresponsive. I placed return mechandise authorization requests to have the keyboards replaced and they were replaced immediately. The great customer service made up for the inconvenience if having to replace the keyboards as the new replacement keyboard was sent before having to return the defective items. I would continue to purchase and recommend this solar keyboard in terms of customer service, low key clacking volume to prevent irate users in an open office environment, and style. Have owned this keyboard and mouse set for over a year now and LOVE IT. Never had any problems with it. Functions as it should and does it well. Batteries last a long time - as advertised (but depending on actual use). The buttons on the keyboard are soft, precise and fairly quiet. The mouse controls feel very precise as well. The clicks are short and distinct and the scroll wheel feels smooth. There is an LED light on both the keyboard and the mouse that warns you when the batteries need replacement - very handy. The keyboard has an adjustable tilt by moving the rubberized feet. You can also stand it on it's side and let it stand at a 90-degree angle to give you more desktop space. The keyboard also seems to be spill-proof as it is has a few slots on the bottom for the liquid to drain through (see pictures). Range: I sometimes use this set with my TV while the PC (connected via long HDMI cable) they're connected to is in a room about 15 feet away and works without interruptions. Bought this keyboard/mouse combo because I needed to replace my old three year old DiNovo keyboard. The keyboard is not sold alone, so one has to get the combo.
I love this keyboard! The keys are very responsive and as they are only 1/4th of the hight of most the other keyboards, they really help to type fast. Love the triggerpoint on then and the klicking sound of the keyboard is nice and solid. It has all the buttons on it that I need and combinded with the small size and very sleek design, it makes for a great keyboard. Again, I bought it again because the old one was worn out.
The mouse I don't like as much. It is big and heavy. I don't need all of the buttons on it and would prefer a smaller size mouse. I like the charging cradle though.

bad for small hands; loud keyboard

the good:

-looks really super cool. i got tons of compliments and "wows" from people at work after i set it up.
-easy to set up. strictly plug-and-play, i even got it working with my laptop's internal bluetooth with very little effort.
-battery life is good so far. i've had the keyboard about a month, and it's still going strong. i don't really use the media pad. the mouse is rechargeable, which is nice, and it seems to last about 3 days between charges.
-wireless=awesome. i have a monitor and a laptop screen, and depending which document i'm working on, i just slide the mouse and keyboard over to the other side of the desk. or put them on the floor if i need space to work with paper.
-flat keyboard is great (also has a kickstand if you like the back elevated). the keys are also "laptop style" flat, which is essential for me.
-love the scroll buttons on the top of the mouse. also, the precision is great and with the software you can adjust the speed of the scroll. indispensable for my line of work, involving 150+ page documents i've got to scroll my way through.

the bad:
-since the mouse is rechargeable, if it runs out of batteries in the middle of the day you'll have to resort to your laptop's touchpad or a backup mouse while it sits and charges up. HOWEVER, it does go 3-4 days between charges and gets to full charge in just a couple of hours.
-it's so, so, so, so loud. the "crisp" response means that the space bar can be heard down the hall, and it absolutely drive me crazy while i'm typing.

the REALLY bad:

ok, here's why i'm returning it or giving it away. and, granted, this probably won't be an issue for most people. but i have hands that are smaller than just about anyone else i know. i'm not a little person, i just have little hands. the most comfortable typing experience i've ever had was on my 12" sony vaio, back in the day before widescreens. sp i was looking for a keyboard that would be similar to a laptop keyboard, but obviously needed to use it with my monitor instead.

after only 3 and 1/2 weeks with this keyboard, i come home with tingling and numbness in the tendons on the backs of my hands. sometimes it's so painful i can't even grip the doorknob without feeling a twinge. the reason is that, although it's just slightly taller than your average laptop keyboard (i.e., from bottom of space bar to top of numbers), it appears to be significantly WIDER than your average laptop keyboard (i.e., from caps lock button to enter key). specifically, the backspace key is so far away that i have to actually move my entire hand over there to use it, or risk serious injury.

also, the "crisp" response is actually a bit too tough for me. i have to stab at the keys to actually type, which means the ends of my fingers get sore and numb and my hands are doing a lot of work putting power into the keystrokes.

the same problem with the mouse - for my dad, it would be just about right. for me, it's huge! i love all the functions and the way it works, it's just so gigantic that it bends my hand all out of shape and makes it tense up, which exacerbates the problems caused by the keyboard.

in short, if you're a guy or if you generally find a 15" laptop's keyboard to be too small and the touch too light, then you'll like this keyboard. but if you're like me and you've got small girlie hands (and they're even smaller than most girlies), and you've got to spend more than 2 hours per day typing, then stay away.

Looks and feels great...SetPoint Software is incompatible

I purchased this keyboard mostly for it's looks, quietness, laptop keyboard feel, and wireless capability. I use a Dell laptop with a dock, and 24" widescreen monitor and running Windows XP Professional. I also run a variety of standard and non-standard business software.

Windows seems to have no trouble picking up the keyboard, keypad, and mouse and installing all standard drivers to make the basic functions work. For me, this was enough to make me happy with my purchase.

However, I would not recommend the SetPoint software that enables customization and the use of many other buttons and features not standard to the Windows drivers. I installed SetPoint several times only to have it corrupt registry files, hang up and crash Outlook 2003, and Windows Media Player. I also tried the most recent version of SetPoint available for download on the Logitech website v4.40, only to find that it had the same issues.

In the end, I restored the computer to its original state with only windows drivers and it is working fine but without the additional features and customization. If you are looking to buy this keyboard for the features afforded by the software, consider these issues a possiblity.

In the end, I am satisfied with this keyboard for the reasons I purchased it. I gave it 3 stars because of the hassle and hours spent installing and uninstalling and restoring my computer only to discover that the accompanying software was incompatible. Had I known in the first place, I would have just used it without the software.
