    This tip, so far, has held up much better than the knock off types I bought previously. Yes it is a lot more expensive by comparison...not really sure what Hakko does different, but the china-tips I ordered before burned through the platting in almost no time. This Hakko has done twice to three times as long and still doesn't seem to have platting issues...that means when I clean the tip in the steel shavings pad it doesn't snag and aggravate me since the tip is not clean. The Hakko is clean, no platting issues and no problem with the edges.
