I needed a small, quiet fan that could push warm air out of my office. It needed to be small enough to sit above my exhaust fans on top of my computer case yet powerful enough to push the warm air directly out my office door about 4 feet away. I live in Texas and as you can image even with good air conditioning my home office can get rather uncomfortable. This fan had a lot of positive reviews and was said by many to be silent and powerful so I took a chance on one. Some of what was said by other reviews was true. It is very quiet and compact. Low setting is inaudible to me and high is pleasantly quiet. But this is NOT a powerful fan as many suggest. The air it moved has no uniform direction either. Because the blades are made of cloth and not at all aerodynamic, they don't move air in a small cone like direction. Rather I feel most of the airflow gets pushed upward, very little directly in front and the a small amount gets pushed downward. Standing directly in front of the fan at my door entrance I feel absolutely zero airflow. So where is all this air going? Well, not out the door and into the air circulation in the room which really does me no good. If you are looking for a fan for similar reasons to mine, I would definitely look at a traditional plastic blade fan that has directional airflow.

soft bladed desk fan, sturdy & quiet

This is the latest in a series of desk fans I've gone through. This one is the nicest yet. It comes with a long AC power cord (not USB), a very sturdy stand, simple controls (just "low", "high", "off"), and a cool looking design.

I noticed that a lot of people uploaded a photo with the fan on, but the blades are too fast to photo, so it just looks like a weird egg on a stand! I've included a couple of photos showing the fan turned off, with the soft vinyl cloth blades; the material is something like the wind breaker material in jackets. Another photo shows a blade wrapped around a pen, to show how soft they are. Finally, I included a brief video showing what happens when a finger interrupts the blade - basically nothing, except a "flup, flup, flup" sound.

This is a good looking, safe, quiet, powerful fan, perfect for a desk; I'm glad I found it.

Still great after 1 year!

I have had this fan for over a year and it has performed absolutely flawlessly and has saved me from many warm days.

If you have an office that gets warm but you also are required to be in conference calls or do not want to disrupt your coworkers with fan noise, this is the fan for you. I would also suggest it for a home office or a workbench.

The adjustment for the fan is a simple tilt method and is strong and sturdy at any position. The fan stays in place thanks to the 5 rubber grommets on the base, which also lessens vibration.

There are two settings, I and II. I is "LOW" and II is "HIGH". There is a substantial noise difference between the two, but it is still quiet enough to not bother my coworkers and after a while, the ambient white noise sound will fade away.

I highly suggest this fan as a super quiet desk fan. Quality components and long lasting.

I absolutely love this fan. My office is very inconsistently heated/cooled and it's always too warm near my desk. I've only ever had to use the fan on the lowest setting to be cool. As a bonus, one of my colleagues who works two desks down from me (it's an open office) didn't even know I had a fan until he stepped in front of the breeze. Now he's getting one for his desk. It's a perfect marriage of quiet and powerful.

Initially, when I turned it on, i heard the not-so-subtle "ticking noise" a lot of the reviewers comment about, but I just pulled the cone with the blades off (it just pulls off) and used small scissors to cut a small bit of excess fabric that was causing the sound by flapping against the inside of the fan.

After that, it was extremely quiet. The fabric blades make it extremely quiet, and reduce risk of injury. This fan is quieter than the floor vent in my office cube, and coworkers are unable to hear that I have a fan (on it's highest setting). Currently, I am using the Zippi in the floor pointed upward towards me from under my desk. If not for the breeze, I would not know it was there.

I'll comment on longevity of the product after I've had it a while longer.

I have two of these, one on my desk two or three feet from my face, and one in my stereo system that cools down the very-hot-running tube amplifier. The one behind the amp makes slightly more noise than the desk fan, for some reason, but I can barely hear it from ten feet away (in my listening position), and not at all when there's music playing, so, no problem.

As a personal fan on your work surface, this product is OK. It's a hundred times less ugly than the average plastic desk fan (actually, it's quite attractive to my eye), relatively unobtrusive, and seems well built. Those are huge pluses. However, functionality is just a three out of five. You have to twist your hand in a bit of a weird position to operate the large switch on the back, and the breeze this thing generates is auxiliary in my case — I couldn't comfortably get through (even a Maine) summer with just this fan in my office. As it's on the weak side, It supplements a powerful floor-standing fan that has three 'propellers.'

The Zippi's soft nylon (?) blades, which are invisible when in motion, are guaranteed not to hurt your fingers, but be prepared for being startled frequently when you inadvertently touch them while reaching for something else.

At $15, the Zippi is a very good value.

Lo que más me sorprendió es su tamaño; es enorme en comparación a mis expectativas. Esto no fue problema para mí, ya que cuento con suficiente espacio para él. Cuenta con dos velocidades; en principio pensé que la falta de una tercera velocidad sería un problema, pero después de probarlo me retracté. La primera velocidad es silenciosa, y empuja bastante aire para situaciones de calor moderado. La tercera genera algo de sonido, nada molesto, pero empuja mucho mas aire. Si regresas al trabajo del calor agobiante del exterior y necesitas mucho aire en el momento, este ventilador te saca del apuro en medio minuto.

Para los que tengan duda, es AC (se conecta a una toma de corriente de 110v en la pared). El cable mide aproximadamente 1.8 metros. Las aspas son bastante resistentes, antes de recibirlo pensé que se dañarían con el tiempo, pero no es el caso; pueden permanecer años en perfectas condiciones.

Fan stopped working, warranty service is critical on a sticker that is on fan itself. Lost sticker long ago because they do not stay on there. Those fans are cheap made, barely lasted 1.5 years. Vornado warranty is as inept as their char bot. They do not accept a Proof of Purchase for warranty purposes; yeah. So if you lose this sticker, you lose everything. Cheese, I know stickers were big in the 80's now in 2021, it means everything.

I no longer recommend this product based on how very little life (for a fan) you get from those and the terrible warranty replacement process, which is a total hoax.

I bought two of them for traveling. I like that it has a significant length of wire, I always have a fan on either side of my bed for circulation. They often scare housekeepers... until I shove my entire hand in there; usually yielding a snicker out of them. Not sure I would want this around little girls with long hair, would be scared their hair would get caught in it, as I am worried for my own hair... but the motor is weak, just enough to turn the fabric fins.

I do recommend this product.

The fan is small and relatively quiet for the amount of air it pushes. It's still a noticeable sound, but much less than enclosed traditional plastic fans. The fan is fairly stable on its little stand, regardless of the angle you set the fan itself to.

I use one by my bed for a decent breeze when going to sleep. It also works fairly well as an office desk fan, as it's not loud enough to disturb coworkers.

They can eventually start making a bit more noise, but this only seemed to happen after using one for several hours, almost nightly, for over a year.
