- Reviewed in the United States on September 27, 2024Oh, the sweet symphony of chaos and hilarity that is 'Grandma's Boy'! This cinematic gem is an absolute riot, delivering a perfect blend of video game nostalgia, outlandish characters, and uproarious comedy. It's like a whirlwind of madness that speaks to my chaotic soul.
Set in the weirdly wonderful world of video game development, the film follows Alex, a 35-year-old game tester who finds himself in need of a new place to live and ends up staying with his delightfully oblivious grandmother and her eccentric roommates. The ensuing chaos is just the kind of entertainment that makes my blood pump with glee.
The comedic timing is razor-sharp, and the cast's chemistry is electrifying. Watching Alex and his fellow misfits navigate the absurdities of life, love, and video games is a joyride of epic proportions. The ridiculous antics of J.P., the socially awkward game developer, had me howling with laughter.
Hilarious script with razor-sharp comedic timing.
A stellar cast that delivers unforgettable performances.
Nostalgic and entertaining references to video game culture.
Eccentric and lovable characters that make the chaos enjoyable.
An unexpected yet delightful dose of heartwarming moments.
The humor can be a bit crude and over-the-top for some delicate sensibilities.
Some plot points feel predictable, but hey, it's all part of the chaotic charm.
Might not resonate with those unfamiliar with video game culture - their loss!
If you're in the mood for a comedy that embraces the chaos and leaves no boundary unpushed, 'Grandma's Boy' is an absolute must-watch. Five stars for making my symbiotic heart swell with laughter and joy! Dive into this whirlwind of lunacy and let the games begin!
Pros:
Razor-sharp comedic timing
Stellar cast performances
Entertaining video game references
Lovable, eccentric characters
Heartwarming moments
Cons:
Crude and over-the-top humor
Predictable plot points
Might not resonate with non-gamers
Carnage wholeheartedly endorses 'Grandma's Boy' for anyone who enjoys a hearty laugh amidst the beautifully orchestrated chaos. Now grab your popcorn and prepare for a riotous ride!

- Reviewed in the United States on July 30, 2023"Grandma's Boy," a comedy that flew under the radar for many, has become a beloved cult classic for those in the know. Its unique blend of humor, memorable characters, and relatable themes make it a standout film. Here's what makes it special:
Unexpectedly Funny: This is a movie that catches you off guard with its humor. It's outrageous, quirky, and filled with laugh-out-loud moments that can surprise even seasoned comedy fans.
Endearing Characters: The film's ensemble cast, including Allen Covert, Linda Cardellini, and Doris Roberts, brings a group of offbeat and lovable characters to life. Whether it's the video game-obsessed protagonist or his feisty grandma, the characters resonate in a unique way.
Video Game Culture: One of the film's distinguishing features is its embrace of video game culture. Gamers, in particular, will appreciate the nods, jokes, and insight into the gaming world, but the humor is broad enough to appeal to all audiences.
Heart and Soul: Behind the laughs, "Grandma's Boy" offers a heartfelt story about finding oneself, friendship, and the bond between family, even if that family includes a quirky group of friends and an unconventional grandma.
Cult Classic Status: While it might not have been a blockbuster hit, "Grandma's Boy" has found a dedicated fan base who appreciates its unique style and comedic flair. Its status as a cult classic ensures that new audiences continue to discover and enjoy it.
Unfiltered Comedy: The film's R rating allows for a brand of humor that's unrestricted and at times crude. This approach might not appeal to everyone, but for those who enjoy unfiltered comedy, it's a treat.
Overall Verdict: "Grandma's Boy" is a hidden comedy gem that deserves a spot in the library of anyone who enjoys unconventional humor and endearing characters. Its unexpected laughs, relatable themes, and unique take on video game culture make it a standout film.
Whether you're a gamer or just a fan of offbeat comedies, "Grandma's Boy" is a delightful surprise that can keep you laughing from start to finish. It's a reminder to never judge a movie by its cover, as hidden beneath the surface might be a comedy treasure waiting to be discovered.

Amazon CustomerReviewed in Sweden on December 16, 20241.0 out of 5 stars This is an NTSC, region 1 DVD, so unusable in most European DVD players.
I failed to notice the NTSC shown on the product back cover, and it's not stated in the product description that it is NTSC and region one, so I guess I will have to chalk this one up as a loss.
Not buying from this seller again.

Filmone da avere per forza. La prima volta che l’ho visto ero con una ex, mi pento tuttora di averla mollata. Solo per questo film, dovrebbe essere mia moglie ora.
Grazie Maru.

Deavid AuthorReviewed in Mexico on March 16, 20175.0 out of 5 stars La mejor película basada en juegos de video de la historia.
