Editorial Reviews

Pearl Jam played a surprise show at Easy Street Records in West Seattle on a Friday night, in support of the Coalition of Independent Music Stores(CIMS) and in celebration of CIMS 10-year anniversary. The result of that once in a lifetime performance has been recorded as an EP entitled LIVE FROM EASY STREET. This 7 song EP contains three never before released cover songs.

i know pearl jam has released like tons of bootlegs and live concerts cds....but what makes the difference in this one, is that: this is only a 7 song EP and in which Pearl Jam played only for a few lucky local fans and bystanders that were that evening on Easy Street records store in west-Seattle, and in which 3 of the songs are covers that had never been released in cd before, 1 of the songs ('Half Full') is a song that they do not often play at their shows, and the other 3 are long favourites ('Lukin','Save You','Porch') but still are not as repetitive and less-emotive as Evenflow or Jeremy (that now seems that everytime Pearl Jam plays them, is like they do it by obligation and just want to get over with quickly so they sing them like in a rush).

this EP is then a very rare live set, and as it was recorded in a small venue, has a raw and more personal vibe that you can feel when listenting to it, so it is definitely a must have item for any pearl jam fan and collector!

A 7 tracks album is always a thing to consider "fans only" and if you're not on that list, you certainly could be buying "Live on 2 legs" or "Benaroya Hall" as both of these albums are full setlists with most of the greatest songs by Pearl Jam.

Now if you feel Pearl Jam is a lot more than that this live album would completely blow you away. To start sound quality is perfect!! way better than the long bootleg official collection Pearl Jam continuously releases from time to time. You don't have "hits" on it (probably "Porch"for nostalgia) the band sounds louder than ever, but in a pristine way, avoiding any kind of useless noises that would somehow interfere with the bass guitar sound, or the drumming.

    in a sentence:

    Go get it!

We have been spoiled with a wealth of great Pearl Jam stuff lately with the new album, the VH1 Storytellers show and this.

The Pearl Jam songs are of course wonderful but I love the covers. These guys are my age so when they pull out covers of rockin' songs from my youth (Clash, Who, Split Enz, etc.) I get excited. I never thought of Pearl Jam as a hardcore band but Bleed For Me totally works and reeling in John Doe for a cover of New World is genius.

This is a little gem for true PJ fans. Rare tracks including "bleed for me" by the Dead Kennedys. Good sound quality.

You'll never here a better version of the Dead Kennedy's "Bleed for Me" than PJ's cut. That track alone is worth the purchase, but luckily all the ather tracks are done well too.

This performance was pretty good. However it is only half of what the CD hard. I feel it’s a missed opportunity for a double record. However it’s still a good listen for Pearl Jam fans
