Line this with parchment paper, and you have the perfect boundary for a mini loaf of homemade sourdough (1 1/2C flour)! I searched for a year for a way to split my 3C sourdough recipe into 2 small round loaves. Whenever I simply placed the smaller amount in a dutch oven, it would spread wider than it would rise tall. This allows a way to do it easily. I bought two of these, and can use them both in my 7 qt oval dutch oven to make 2 loaves at a time. I've also had success using only one of them in a 3 qt or 5 qt round dutch oven. The dough will rise above the 3 inch height of the ring and bake to beautiful golden brown on both the top and bottom. The sides will stay lighter and softer. I'm very happy with these baking rings!

It's a piece of tube...

Basically this is a slice of stainless tube. But it is not terribly over priced, and it is convenient to buy. The edges are not clean. They could have spend, I don't know, maybe 30 seconds with a wheel to smooth the edges. So I had to do that myself. The rough edges make it harder to clean.

It's about 18 ga, rather thick, and does not easily deform. I used it for making mini cheesecakes, it worked perfectly. Since it appears to come from actual tubing, the roundness is pretty much spot on. The weld seam is visible but does not get in the way.

Kind of annoying that somebody put a ridiculously gummy product sticker on it; took industrial alcohol to remove it.

I'm writing this review after using the rings several times. : ) I found absolutely nothing to dislike about their build quality and performance.

I bought three to bake miniature cakes (after properly prepping the sides and wrapping the bottom in Reynold's nonstick foil, of course) up to 375F and found they work beautifully for that purpose.
They're "seamless" with a lovely finish, have a beautiful, hefty weight to them and the edges are flat and even without being sharp.
I haven't run them through the dishwasher yet, but that's only because I'm usually already doing a pile of "hand wash only" and they're just too easy to wash up quickly at that time.

In fact, I was so pleased with these that I also invested in and have used three each of the 3" and 3.5", all of which are thoroughly consistent in quality and performance. I'm looking forward to exploring other uses for them besides 'cake pans'.
For the build quality and performance, I'd say these rings are an outstanding value.

Glad to find the size I was looking for. The only issue is that I order two 5-inch AND two 6-inch rings. Had no issue with the 5-inch ones but for the 6-inch I just received one, the receipt actually was saying two but the package came with just one. Luckily, Amazon Customer Service did great and I was able to get my missing ring, took a few more days but at least I got it.
