MacGyver is a family series that does not dumbdown for its audience. Its Indiana Jones, James Bond and Mr. Wizard all rolled into one.

Season four, like the other three season on DVD, are filled with friends from previous seasons... Penny Parker (Teri Hatcher), Jack Dalton (Bruce McGill) and Mac's sidekick/boss Peter Thorton (The late Dana Eclar) and his arch villian Murdoc (played to the hilt by Micheal Des Barres).

The best episodes of this season are:

Cleo Rocks-which shows why Teri Hatcher is the star she is today, as she tried to mount a musical with a killer (ala the Phanton of the Opera) lurking

On a Wing and A Prayer-reminds this critic of Flight of The Phoenix as Mac, Jack and Pete try to raise a bullet ridden sea plane

Deadly Dreams-Which is a TV spin on Silence of the Lamb-where Mac works with a criminal mastermind similar to Hannibel Lechter to find an escape killer

It is great TV at its best....However Dana Eclar passed this year-it would have been nice to have a tribute to him on the DVD. And One can wish Richard Dean Anderson one day does an audio commentary on a MacGyver box set

These 19 episodes are well worth your money and your time. So Paramount- so when is the rest coming? Soon I hope!

The movies arrived when they were supposed to, the packaging was done well. I ordered them by separate seasons and actually came out cheaper than if I would have ordered the set. I also read the reviews before I ordered and most said the single season sets were much more presentable than the complete set. I am very happy and if you are a MacGyver fan I would definitely recommend this produce.

I really hate having to give two stars for this, but Paramount should hang its head in shame for releasing any DVD set with quality this poor, and doubly so for such a well-loved series as this. I have at least one season of about 20 different TV series and the video in MacGyver by far the worse I've ever seen. Nothing in my collection looks anywhere near this bad, and I have shows of all ages and types. Oh, and the extras. There aren't any. Double shame on Paramount.

This just another case of Paramount figuring they can sell junk because the fan base is so loyal. The did something similar with the Star Trek series: good quality in that case, but no extras and exorbitant pricing (which they are only now starting to change). I haven't bought any MacGyver myself, but I've watched some of the DVDs that a neighbor of mine bought and I'd never give Paramount a dime for these, if only on principle.

Season 4 was as good as ever! I loved this show as a child and it is even better now!! Classic MacGyver getting himself out of any and all situations. We need more TV heroes like MacGyver today. He is entertaining, but always upholds a decent set of morals. I'm glad the later seasons got away from the "James Bond Playboy" attitude that was prevalent in Season 1. Season 4 tackled some of the big issues of the day for the late 1980's. Mac was just good clean entertainment and he always made you think! I actually think it was MacGyver that inspired me to study Chemistry in college- he always knew everything about anything!

The DVD's were good quality and reasonably priced. I liked the fact that there were not to many extras added keeping the price down. Overall a great buy! I plan on purchasing the rest of the series!

It is fun to watch this show and see the comparison in the thinking of the times. I mean no cell phones. It makes such a difference. It is also more intellegent than a lot of action shows of today are. They don't rely on gory bodies, car chases and gun battles to fill in time in lieu of a story. This is a show well worth watching.

Let me say first that the episode is great as far as acting, characters and storyline. A best friend story and action story all in one. However, while I love being able to watch these old episodes, the quality of the transfer to a streaming format leaves alot to be desired. Reminds me of watching an old VHS tape. Perhaps this is to encourage you to buy the DVD box set which I probably will eventually. But still, at $1.99 per episode I was expecting much better video quality.

When purchasing a series of TV shows it is important to have all the years that it was in production. This year was the exact middle of this show's 7 year production, and therefore a necessity to own if I wanted the entire production.

I like the continuity of this series stories, and their interaction within it's 7 year run.

I would recommend this product to any serious MacGyver fan, or anyone that appreciates watching mysteries and how the "hero" reasons out the solution to different complex problems.
