Unfortunately, the mixer is extremely limited. You can't run audio to your headphones while using the USB connection (which doesn't make any sense to me at all). What's worse -- Behringer knows this is a limitation but doesn't make a note of it anywhere in the descriptions of the product.
Do yourself a favor and splurge on something a little more powerful than this thing. It has a small footprint, but the limitations are simply not worth it.
I wanted to improve the sound quality of voice overs and narrations for videos I am editing, such as product reviews and tutorials.
I wanted the three-band equalizers and at least 2 XLR jacks, which this was the smallest one that met those conditions.
*Build Quality*
This one gets 5 stars. It seems to be well built and I have no complaints here.
*Performance*
This thing performs as expected. If you're connecting microphones via the phono jacks, they MUST be independently powered. In other words, if you're connecting a lapel mic or something via the 1/4-in jack, the mixer will not provide power to it.
The main thing that seems to determine the quality of your audio is the microphone you attach to it. I followed another reviewer's advice and bought the Behringer XM8500 mic along with this and I must say, "WOW". I don't know much about microphones, but the XM8500 does a great job at suppressing ambient noise and delivering great quality audio, especially when combined with this mixer.
For the tech geeks, this mixer uses 4558 op amps, which aren't the best at being the quietest op amps, but considering the price range of this product, it makes sense they would use it. Each audio signal does go through multiple 4558 op amps, so that will have some impact, although I think it's very insignificant. But that depends on the application I suppose.
*The Power Jack*
Many people have fussed about the odd connector for the power adapter, but it makes sense. The AC adapter provides +18V & -18V, necessary for dual rail power supply to the op amps. So it has to have a 3-pin power connection, leaving the standard barrel plug not an option. I didn't have the issue with it being loose, which could mean Behringer has fixed this issue or I just happened to have gotten a good build. So I have no complaints with this part, especially considering why it's necessary.
*NO POWER SWITCH!*
Ok, this is a BIG negative and the reason I gave it only 4 stars (almost 3). Why the heck does it not have a simple on/off power switch? The only way to turn it off is by unplugging it, which I don't really want to do at the mixer since I don't want to wear the plug out and make it loose. Seriously, who thought leaving this off was a good idea? The right upper side of this gets pretty warm due to the AC-to-DC power conversion, so I don't like leaving this on when not in use. I don't think it's necessarily a safety issue, but I see it as being something that will decrease the life of this mixer. That's just my speculation anyways.
Over all, this is a great mixer, especially for a beginner. I wish there was a way to make it more portable, such as power it via batteries, but no such luck here. The size is rather small, smaller than I was thinking it would be, so that makes it easy to store and takes up less space on your desk. I would definitely recommend this and it's a great deal at this price range.
But DESPAIR NOT, THERE'S A SIMPLE FIX...& no it's NOT yukking duct taping the connector to the mixer. All I did was wrap the body of the connector with a few wraps of silicone-stretch tape, to where the plug body now fits quite snugly into the mixer chassis. I just eyeballed what I thought would be the right diameter, plus a little extra, so I could unwrap it and cut back any excess. I only had to trim the tape back about 1/4" from my guess-timate. And VOILA... Problem solved and it's still unplug-able, to boot! The other plus to this is that it takes the strain off the connection itself, so now the enlarged plug body takes the weight instead of the connectors, which in turn will contribute to longer service life. I used black silicone tape, which blends right in...you would have to be told it's there to even notice it. No ugly duct tape residue, just plug or unplug like sane people everywhere are used to doing every day. Meanwhile, I'm waiting for my pat on the back from Uli Behringer, himself LOL...you're welcome, Uli.
I jacked it into an old surround sound amp I bought cheap, and the other jack set goes to my HD line in on my computer. It makes it nice because I can treat it as practice and actually hear what I am recording as it sounds in the room.

1. The power connector is unacceptable for normal use cases. A slight nudge to the mixer will knock it out, and when the power pins are only half disconnected like the design allows it to be (for some reason) a loud pop and metal sound will ring through your speaker at full volume until you either a) fully plug it back in or b) unplug it. This has happened to me several times when my foot has caught the power lead or my desk gets knocked. This happening in a live setting will guarantee a ruined party and maybe even ruined speakers.
This can be fixed by designing a better connector or using a standard IEC c13 plug and a built in power brick (which is featured on the higher end models)
2. The "Main Mix" volume knob has a drastic cut in volume at about the 8 o'clock position. But the worst thing about this is, the large drop in volume when slowly turning it anti-clockwise begins in one channel first, then the next. So if you wanted to settle for a volume in the 7-8 o'clock region, it ain't happening unless you be really careful. This is annoying when plugged into a loud amp and your main mix has to be quiet.
UPDATE: The mixer is now doing the electronic ringing sound even if the power connector is in securely. It now does it at random points whenever it pleases. Very disappointing, can't even return this product. 1 star.
Entiendo que es algo solucionable, por eso no le pongo una sola estrella. Por lo demás, bien
It also has generic instructions which apply to 3 other mixers by Behringer. This makes understanding more difficult than it needs to be, especially as many buying this entry level product are likely to be new to this world. There are some confusing and badly written sections to the instructions which I can't quite decipher.
For the money the product is fine and does what you want. My requirements are mixing a keyboard, microphone, drum backing track and guitar through a single amp. This it manages fine.
