    I replaced a Xytronic soldering/desoldering station that cost $495 with the Aoyue 701+. The Aoyue is much better and you can't beat the price. The suction on the Aoyue desolder is much better. I use the Aoyue daily and at times for several hours a day. Works great. Easy to clean out the desolder and replacement parts are inexpensive. A+++++++

    You get what you pay for - for occasional use not a bad product. I have owned this a couple of years now and still working. Desoldering tips are a bit too large for CCA's with small pads.

    I have been using Hakko for 17 years and have been overall impressed with everything except the price...I thought I could get somthing for less money.
    The Aoyue is at best average for hobby soldering,,,it is NOT hot enough for miltilayered or double sided PC boards.
    The Hakko 808 portable desolder performs better for desolder.
    I will be looking elseware.

    This is the second Aoyue product i have bought, and like the first, has excellent build quality, is solid, and well put together. I had originally bought a 2702A+, but with that model you cant use the soldering Iron and the desoldering tool at the same time, and this is a function I need, as I repair classic computer and game consoles.

    Pro-gress:
    The cabinet for the station is solid, and has a excellent functional layout and clearly marked controls. Tempurature is always spot on, and can be calibrated if it is off a little from the marking on the dial. Consistant temps are also spot on, and 'heat drop' from heavy work load isnt an issue.

    Con-gress:
    About my only complaint is the holder for the desoldering tool is on the side of the unit itself, instead of on the soldering iron holder or self contained. I use mine in a place where there isnt room for the main box to have the desoldering tool in the holder on the side, and so an external holder or a modification to the soldering iron holder needs to be implemented.

    Selling Company (SRA Soldering Products):
    Excellent company, and customer service is second to none. There is a gentleman there named Randy, and he is rther knowledgable about the products, and about how to treat customers right, it is the quality of my first Aoyue product, and the great customer service by SRA and Randy, that made me want to buy another Aoyue product, and from them.

    I received my Aoyue 701 in short time and in good condition. It works great for what I am using it for. Which is desoldering printed circuit boards. Very poorly written manual. And if you are going to use this product a lot consumable parts are IMPOSIBLE to find. Good luck. Over all product performs very well and heats up fast and desolders quickly.

    Can't get the desolder tips to tin (solder should melt onto tip, not bead and fall off) so it does not have a good thermal connection to the joint being desoldered. Not good...

    I bought the 701 for a home/hobby project that required quite some de-soldering. First impressions of the Ayoue:
    -Solid build
    -Well packed
    -Comes with replacement tips, filters etc.

    Initial dislikes:
    -A scratch on case
    -Missing trimmer cap
    -User manual could improve

    It looks like Ayoue lacks a little with their quality control. However working with the 701 is fun:
    -De-soldering works great
    -Nice feel (handling) of the de-soldering gun
    -Gun is easy to use (compared to Weller foot pedal)

    Dislikes during use:
    -Iron holder a little cumbersome (holder for pump-gun is OK)
    -Iron handle gets warm (compared to Weller)
    -Tossing pumped solder is difficult
    -Solder reservoir is too small

    All in all, at that price, the Ayoue is unbeatable. If you are on a budget and need a de-soldering station, the 701 is the way to go. I would buy it again.
