I’m going to have to be “that” mom because some of us are.

I’m going to have to be “that” mom because some of us are.
My 5 year old is starting to read chapter books and I’m having to explain to her why Junie B. is constantly speaking with improper grammar and calling things “stupid,” which my daughter isn’t allowed to say. I think children who are trying to learn to speak properly aren’t old enough to get the concept of childlike vernacular for characterization sake in literature. I think it also confuses them. I also think children should be taught to say why they dislike something instead of calling it “stupid” or “dumb” or saying “I hate ____.” We are enjoying the story so far. It seems cute, but unfortunately we will are probably going to pass on the other Junie B. books.

Barbara Park knew how to capture the funny, innocent, social awkwardness of being young. Junie B is every parent's nightmare. She is not a naughty child. She is simply learning how to navigate in a big world full of unwritten rules about what a first grader should and shouldn't say and do.
The story is simple and well written. The vocabulary is great for an early reader.

I have to admit I am not fond of Junie's tart little sayings at times. I do not allow my kids to use words like "stupid" which are thrown around liberally in the book. I have made clear to my kids they can read Junie B, but if I ever hear Junie B-ish words coming from their mouths, Junie B will find herself at the half price bookstore on the corner.

My seven year old daughter LOVES the Junie B. Jones books. Reading has never been something that she has been overly found of; however, she will sit down and read an entire Junie B. Jones book in one weekend. These may not be the best written books when it comes to grammar and proper word use, but if this series of books can ignite my daughters love of reading, then they are worth every penny.

My 6 year old daughter reads these books at school and is always begging to read them at home too. She would listen to the whole thing in one sitting but the chapters also make it nice if we don't have that much time.

Junie B. Jones is moving through the next generation in our family and the kids still love these books.

All the Junie B.Jones books were for my granddaughter. She already had some and was very excited to get the rest of them. I, personally, wished the author used more correct English to get her message across. Children learn by example and using incorrect language (i.e. using me instead of I) makes it harder for children to learn early on what is correct.

Junnie B Jones is something what every child reads. 5 for story. Its great for kids.
But the print is awful. Dont even feel like giving 1 for the quality.
why is Amazon delivering such local prints or getting involved with local vendors. I have ordered 12 books for my kid, was wondering whats reaching me next..the print bleeds and gets on to the hands.Such bad quality of pages.Being a paperback doesnt mean it will be all colourless and such a awful quality.Utterly disappointed.
