Good for what it is
First off I play Street Fighter 4 on PC not sure what the input lag is. Man joysticks are ridiculously expensive. I'd much rather have this at $25 and tournament stick editions at 50-75. I began playing Street Fighter at a friend's house on the tournament stick, and decided to pick up this. Both sticks aren't EXACTLY like the arcade, not like I expected them to be - but it is good for comparison. The tournament stick is about 80% of an real arcade feel. The fighting stick 3 feels like 60% of the TOURNAMENT STICK. <--This is quality wise with the parts. Everything still functions as it is suppose to. I still am able to do FADC ultra combos accurately, but the cherry top stick is too light. The buttons are alright, they are a bit sluggish like already mentioned. If you've never played with a tournament stick then you probably won't notice. If you have, the quality is noticeably not as good, but as I said before I could still execute the FADC combos in a timely fashion. Personally I think it's alright for 50 bucks. It could've been worse. lol If you could get a tournament stick hold off on this, and get that. The quality in the parts is much better, unless you swap these buttons and joystick like i plan to. It's around 40 bucks to upgrade so I rather do that then spend another 100 bucks for another stick.

    The Hori Fighting Stick 3 is a solid entry in Hori's line of joystick products. As the only arcade stick widely available for the Playstation 3 in the USA, it has some big shoes to fill. Fortunately, it comes through in most areas. It's the best in its class and with the new backwards-compatibility updates to the PS3, you can even use this with your favorite PS1 and PS2 games.

    The HFS3 offers a Japanese style ball-top joystick with 8 Japanese style convex face buttons. The stick and buttons are all very responsive and perform extremely well in the most intense situations. The joystick has a very sturdy outer case and weighs a respectable 3lbs. It also comes with rubber feet allowing you to comfortably play on a hard surface or your lap. A minor gripe I have about this joystick is the button layout which forces your hand to be in a slightly awkward and uncomfortable position but is definitely not a deal-breaker.

    I found this joystick to be terrific in 3D fighting games and have no gripes about it at all. However, when it comes to 2D fighting games, this joystick falls a little short. Most fighting game aficionados will know the importance of circular motions in order to keep your competitive edge. Sadly, this joystick comes with the Japanese standard square restrictor-plate. I find it very difficult to pull off complex combos requiring lots of circular rotations.

    If you feel confident enough to do a little modification, you can easily fit a Sanwa JLF and an octagon restrictor-plate into this stick. This is a great option since it comes with such a low-price tag giving you some wiggle room for upgrades.

    Overall, I think this is a solid purchase for anyone that wants to expand their fighting game experience. I thoroughly enjoy playing fighting games on the Playstation 3 more because of this stick and have a lot of fun playing some older PS1/PS2 games with it as well.

    I've been wanting to get a fighting stick for a long time now, though I've always been hesitant because fighting games weren't as much my thing and I mostly wanted it for arcade games. The price of others always daunted me, so for years I went on a search for a budget arcade stick. Then, I ended up finding this one for about $50 and, let me tell you, it's worth the money.
    I don't have any superior sticks to compare this to, but as a beginner I'd say it feels fantastic. It doesn't feel like I cheaped out at all. The buttons press just fine, the stick moves as it's supposed to, and never do I feel like an input isn't being received properly. (When I do it's just a result of me being bad at the game) My only complaints are that the button positions are a little awkward, since it would be more comfortable on the hand if they were ascending to the right as they do on most sticks, and that the stick itself uses a square gate instead of a more standard octagonal or circle gate. I've also heard the gate is slightly more difficult to replace than a standard stick, as you need to drill some holes for it to work.
    Otherwise, especially if you can get it for the price I did, I highly recommend it for anyone just starting to get into fighting games. I'd even recommend it for arcade games if you're that into them.

    I bought this joystick because I wasn't happy with my competition stick. I thought by buying this stick, i wouldn't have any problems performing my moves in street fighter. Well, i was definitely wrong because doing forward-down to forward motion, aka drag punch rotation, is very difficult. Actually it is almost impossible. Especially when trying to combo into a cr mk to super fireball.

    Street Fighter Alpha 2:
    I like using rolento in this game. I thought this stick would improve my consistency in doing the throw dagger command. However i was extremely disappointed that you literally have to mash the joystick in order to get that rotation to come out.

    Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo:
    I still had the same problem when using shodo characters. However when using sagat, i find his tigree knee to be exremely easy. So if you are a noob and just want to spam tiger knee, then this stick is perfect for you!

    Street Fighter 4:
    Amazingly this stick works pretty well for this game. I think it is because you only have to hit down-left or down-right twice to perform a dragon punch type move. Performing supers is also pretty easy but comboing into supers is another story. Doing a cr mk to super fireball is quite difficult. If you like to play online, this can be quite annoying. Especially when you get punished for it!

    So overall, I give this stick a 4 out 5. After doing some research on youtube, i found out that it is extremely easy to mod!! All you have to do is buy a restrictor plate and you're set to go! I STRONGLY suggest that before you buy this stick, look up videos on square plates vs the 8 octagonal restrictor plate!!
    Besides that, it's an ok stick for under 50 bucks. If you mod it, then you will definitely get your moneys worth! I Hope this review helps with your search in buying a new joystick!

    Ok where to begin. It's small, buttons are terrible, awkward feel to the stick, and oh yeah, WAY TOO LIGHT. Even if you are a beginner, Do not get this! Just save up for a Mad Catz or a Sanwa Hori Arcade Pro. Even though I started out using this and eventually got use to it, I threw it away and bought a Mad Catz TE. What a CHANGE it has brought to me. Executions became EASIER, rush down games were more in CONTROL, and you CAN'T COMPLAIN to you friends that the stick sucks, when you LOSE. Don't buy it and if you already did, you're going to regret it.

    5.0 out of 5 stars Stick arcade de grande qualité !!
    Reviewed in France on May 29, 2010
    Cette version PS3 me permet de profiter d'un gameplay d'antan sur des jeux de baston actuels ou récents.
    Pour ma part, rien ne vaut un stick arcade NEO GEO AES ( SNK ) ou d'une borne arcade mais ce stick est très solide et doit être utilisé par des joueurs confirmés qui ont l'habitude de jouer en arcade ( sur STREET FIGHTER ou encore THE KING OF FIGHTERS ). Je conseille ce produit à tous ceux qui veulent jouer à un jeu de baston, comme il se doit.

    5.0 out of 5 stars Hori Fighting Stick 3 - Forever
    Reviewed in Germany on April 22, 2007
    =========

    Präzision

    =========

    Der Stick und die Tasten besitzen höchste Präzesion! Die Tasten sind super empfindlich. Wer vorher einen amerikanischen Fighting Stick benutzt hat muss hier womöglich etwas vorsichtiger zu Werke gehen. Wie bei japanischen Spieleautomaten genügt schon die kleinste Berührung um eine Aktion auszulösen. Wer jedoch geschickte Fingerchen hat, für den sind der butterweiche Stick und die präzisen Tasten ein Traum und der kann auch die gefürchteten 1-Frame-Moves schaffen. Unglücklicherweise sind die wichtigen Tasten für meinen Geschmack etwas zunahe an den Stick platziert worden. Auch warum die Buttons nach rechts abfallen kann ich mir nicht so recht erklären.

    ========

    Qualität

    ========

    Der Stick bestitz eine feste Metallunterseite. Die Verarbeitung des Sticks und der Tasten ist ausgezeichnet. Man merkt, dass man es hier nicht mit einem Billigprodukt zu tun hat. Die Tasten wurden schön ans Bord drangelötetet, so dass es nicht wahrscheinlich ist, dass die Tasten schnell lose werden oder der Kontakt nicht mehr sauber arbeitet (so wie beim Vorgängermodell).

    =============

    Kompatiblität

    =============

    Über ein großzügig langes drei Meter USB Kabel wird der Hori Fighting Stick an die PS3 angeschlossen. Eine Wireless Funktion gibt es nicht. Der Stick hat die gleichen Eingabemöglichkeiten wie der Controller, also auch eine Hometaste um die PS3 ggf. schnell abschalten zu können. Der Stick funktioniert jedoch leider nur mit der PS3. Weder zur PS2 noch zum PC ist er kompatibel.

    ===============

    Einsatzgebiete

    ===============

    Ein Beat'em up wird vorzugsweise nur mit den Grundtasten gespielt. Beim Hori sind die Tasten sehr groß, also ideal geeignet für Spiele wie Virtua Fighter 5 oder das noch nicht erschienene Tekken 6. Diese Spiele haben nur wenig Grundfunktionen (VF5 z.B. nur Guard, Punch und Kick) und die großen Tasten können gut bedient und erreicht werden. Für Spiele mit mehr Grundtasten wie z.B. Streetfighter mit sechs Grundtasten sind die Tasten jedoch viel zu weit auseinander und daher ist der Hori für diese Spiele weniger geeignet.

    =======

    Fazit

    =======

    Letztendlich muss jeder selber wissen, ob er Beat'em ups nur zum Spaß zocken will oder ob er auch mal komplizierte Kombos erlernen will. Um in die Tiefen eines Spiels einzusteigen, braucht man aber auf jedenfall einen Fighting Stick. Der Sixaxiscontroller arbeitet nämlich so gut mit VF5 zusammen wie Steve Irwin mit einem Schwarm voller Stachelrochen. Der Standartcontroller ist also absolut unempfehlenswert. Leider gibt es in Deutschland bisher keine anderen PS3 Sticks zu kaufen daher kann man auch schlecht vergleichen. Mit dem Kauf eines Hori Fighting Stick 3 macht man jedoch mit Sicherheit keinen Fehler. Ein misslungenes Erstlingswerk ist er ganz und gar nicht.

    Je n'ai utilisé ce stick que pour jouer sur PC et PS3 à SSF4AE.
    Il est vraiment adapté pr les débutants.
    Le plastique a tendance à faire de petites bulles d'air avec la chaleur mais rien de gênant.

    Cependant lorsque que vous prenez du niveau, vous préféreriez peut-être un pad pour joueurs plus expérimentés avec une implantation rectiligne des touches et plus de place pour poser la main.

    Un bon produit.
