The visual complement to his 1994 book of the same name, Deepak Chopra's The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success provides adherents with the same kind of inspiration and advice that have made the New Delhi-born doctor and writer's work so popular. Whether it will sway those who consider Chopra more charlatan than guru, however, is another matter. To be sure, there's much to be said for the virtues of cultivating one's consciousness, which Chopra describes as "a faculty more powerful and reliable than the five senses." In fact, much is said about it here, often by some familiar faces, including singer Olivia Newton-John (who also provided much of the music for the DVD), actor-director Bill Duke, musician Dave Stewart of the band Eurythmics, and professional golfer Tina Mickelson. Their testimonials, while varying in specifics, all have the same essential theme: only after they'd reached their lowest ebb (breast cancer for Newton-John, a car accident for Stewart, drug problems for Duke) were they able to "tap into the power of their inner beings" and realize their full potential. That's where the Seven Spiritual Laws come in. Some contain considerable wisdom; the fourth (called "The Law of Least Effort") recommends acceptance and responsibility as alternatives to blaming others, while the sixth ("The Law of Detachment") suggests that relinquishing one's obsession with a particular goal will make it more likely to happen. Others are frustratingly vague; learning to "efficiently, effortlessly co-create with the universe" or to be "grounded in the wisdom of uncertainty" is all well and good, but in the absence of practical steps it comes off as vapid New Age speak. Overall, the DVD is well-produced, mixing interviews with the principals (Chopra included) with some lovely cinematography and several sequences that combine live action (mostly featuring Newton-John) with imaginative, computer-generated landscapes and interiors. The package contains a 16-page "study guide" along with the DVD. --Sam Graham

- Reviewed in the United States on July 25, 2018Love this video! Love the book so much and it is so helpful to be mindful of how the universe works and how you can make it work for you. I've even gifted this dvd to family members and each on loved it!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 12, 2009I didn't like the book at all. A few pages into chapter one was all I could do.
I had to re-read at different times to make sure what I was reading,
though the writing style was simple, I found it difficult to follow
unless I was trying too hard to comprehend the message that I missed it.
I don't know. Maybe later....much later, I will try reading it again.
Material is vague, and seemed to me at least to be written in riddles.
I understand his books are very popular, but I at least could not
identify with this author. He had absolutely nothing to offer me
not even spirituality.
I think Oprah's show on the same subject was far more beneficial.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 12, 2009The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success summarizes, more or less, well-known spiritual laws that we've all heard of (in The Secret, for instance), but conveys them sometimes with a fresh point of view. And Olivia is a pleasure to see and watch, of course. All in all, I'd recommend it.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 5, 2011I have watched this several times since I received it. Many of the messages are not new but it is put together in an captivating way that holds your attention. I find that sometimes Deepak can relate ideas in such a complex way that it takes too much effort to comprehend. That is not the case at all in this DVD. Highly recommend.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 17, 2009Deepak Chopra's movie based on his book 'The Seven Spiritual Law's of Success' is phenominal. If you loved the book and are looking for another way in which to learn the information contained in it, then get this movie. I feel that this is one of his best books as far as resources for personal growth, spirituality and success! Thank you Deepak!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 23, 2015not the best flow of a story but the material is remarkable. It does help me become more open to understanding the world in a totally different way which is the goal. Deprogramming, while building, for me.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 3, 2007I have previous tapes of Depak Chopra that I found very enlightening. I felt that Olivia Newton John was featured primarily in this DVD and I did not receive the same uplifiting message as I did when only Depak Chopra delivered his message. By the way, I like Olivia Newton John very much.

Jane DerryReviewed in Canada on October 26, 20105.0 out of 5 stars An Easily Accessible Entry into Spiritual Principles
It seems that Dr Chopra has dedicated his entire life to raising the spiritual understanding of this planet. He has no shortage of books, CD's, DVD's, and he is constantly on the lecture circuit. The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success is a film we share with our guests at our recovery retreat. Spirituality is the foundation of successful recovery from addiction, and Dr Chopra is always non-threatening and inclusive. His lilting dictation commands a respect from even our most jaded guests. I recommend this film to people seeking an entry into what spiritual principles mean.
