A great thermostat for reptiles....with a sub par suction cup for probe

I currently have 4 of these thermostats in use both for under tank heaters and for ceramic heat emitters for my reptiles. It is very easy to program and operate. The suction cup along the temperature probe wire is very tiny and thus has a small amount of suction. It easily comes undone, and I had to find slightly larger suctions cups used for aquarium wires/hoses that adhere for longer.

There is a small plastic loop at the top so that I can hand these from a hook or nail.

Perhaps the BEST feature about this is that it remembers the last temperature setting you entered after being turned off. I have several of these thermostats hooked up to timers that shut off the heat during night time, and when they turn back on, the temperature setting is still saved in the device's memory.

This NOT a pulse thermostat that keeps the temperature exactly and precisely to a degree. Once the target temperature is reached, this thermostat turns off electricity to the plugged in heating device until the temperature drops by several degrees, and then it turns back on again. Thus, you're going to have a small range of temperatures on the heated side of the enclosure with this device. Overall this is not a huge problem, but it may be a drawback or detriment for people using thermostats for egg incubation or reptiles with very finicky temperature requirements.

Easy to use, great results

Great way to get my seedlings started while the weather is brutal outside for the greenhouse. Adding this to my 16-tray light stand has helped, as I recently converted from fluorescent to LEDs on the stand, and the LEDs do not give off heat like the fluorescents did.
Using a surge strip to link multiple mats to a this digital thermometer, https://www.amazon.com/Jump-Start-MT10009-48x20-75-Seedling/dp/B000E3B8XG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1489757682&sr=8-1&keywords=Jump+Start+MT10009+48x20.75+Inch+Seedling+Heat+Mat, allows me to handle my various levels on the stand at the same time. Granted, the mats all are based upon the one probe reading, but in the setting of the light stand, the temps should be relatively identical, therefore the lack of additional temperature readings is insignificant.
I plan to purchase another of this thermometer to control another set of mats for an additional stand I am designing.

Heat Control made easy...

This controls the amount of heat you wish to apply to your seedlings. It plugs into the wall, then you plug your heat pads into it. There is a long cord with a thermal couple at the end that you push into one of your seedling pods. It monitors the temperature and turns it on and off as needed. This was a very helpful tool. You just hold the set button and adjust to the temperature where you would like to have it. If the area is already warm enough it just sits in stand by until the temperature drops then turns on to heat up. The unit will display the current temperature so if it is higher than you set it, it is probably just the room temperature you are seeing. No need to readjust. I bought the Lux WIN100 Heating & Cooling Programmable thermostat with this. I set the temperature to what i thought was too hot and plugged a fan into that. Now when it gets too hot, the Lux WIN100 turns on and cools it down to a reasonable level. Both have set points so you can keep them from battling each other. Worked great.

I think this is fine for aquariums and seedlings but unfortunately it does not work in the cold, which is where I needed it to help keep my quails warm. It gives an E1 code in sub-zero temps. I will be returning it. I am not sure what it's workable temperature range is so if this is an issue you may want to ask the seller.

Perfect!!!
Now the heat mat will only go on when it needs to be on and the little display always tells me what the temperature is...
The hole to attach it to the wall is tiny and if you use a screw it causes the box to sit off the wall. So I used some easy release double stick tape to put it on the wall, now it's not going anywhere.

Have bought several of these for many different applications (all measuring temp for different reasons and under different circumstances), and they have all worked quite well. Only reason for loss of a star is because the relay is incredibly loud and audible. Definitely know when it clicks.

Simple, reliable, easy to use

It remembers the preferred temperature setting after power outages or after unplugging it. It remembers for months if necessary. It has a clear display and is very easy to program. It shows the current temperature of the probe if you like to be reassured that the heater is working.

I use this to regulate the temperature of my foot warmer (http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B000079896/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_0) in a cold office. Without the warmer, my feet freeze but with it on all the time, my feet cook. This thing is absolutely perfect. I've had it two years (this is my third winter with it) and I am very happy.

I wrote this review because I was thinking about buying a third (I bought a foot warmer and one of these thermostats for my father in law) for another application and I wanted to know the maximum wattage. Since I didn't find it here I took a look at my own: it's 1000W (about 8 amps at 120v). I don't think that's a problem for most heat mats but it's low for a space heater.
