They currently were utilizing an external 24" LCD through an HDMI port, but wanted two additional 19" LCD's that they had on a tree stand. I wasn't quite sure how I was going to do that with the laptop effectively, utnil I found the USB splitter. The product was a snap to install on the Windows 7 64bit OS that we were running; we had the extended desktop working with little effort. After a short setup, the client was utilizing the monitors for video. Quality was acceptable. Very happy with the product. The only downside; it recognizes the two monitors as a single, larger monitor. When you maximize a window, it spans the two monitors as one desktop, instead of being able to identify the monitors individualy. This is the case with the Matrox DualHead2GO Digital ME. I have two identical ASUS VS247 24 inch external monitors that I have had hooked up with my early 2011 MBP. One with a HDMI to mini display port adapter connected directly to the Thunderbolt (TB) port (the adapter is from Monoprice), and the other with a USB 2.0 to HDMI adapter (also from Monoprice, but basically a Displaylink product) connected directly to a USB port (in a USB 2.0 hub connected to my MBP). While the USB to HDMI adapter was just ok, the performance was not really acceptable with colors, or speed, etc. It was just 'blah' compared to my monitor that was connected through the TB interface. I also had lag issues and often times my system would slow down with tasking (believe me I have plenty of horsepower) and get unstable. I did some more research and fell into this Matrox product. I really wanted a Thunderbolt (TB) dock that would give me two 'true' TB ports without playing the passthrough game. Still none on the market that will allow TB for one monitor and HDMI for the other to run concurrently. Was not working for me. I decided to get the Matrox product for the $170. I figured I could send it back if I didn't like the functionality of two screens being one large resolution. After a week of usage, I have to tell you I LOVE it. I have gotten used to manipulating windows and both monitor are so crisp and sharp. They are both on immediately after a wakeup from sleep, etc. Yes, at first I didn't like the dialog and information boxes that show up in-between screens, or that I have to get used to the menu on the top getting split up between the two screens, or that the dock at the bottom s spread across the two screens (but you can manipulate the size of the dock in preferences). I have gotten used to the center dialog boxes popping up and a quick move with the mouse, when I need to. The tradeoff for the brilliant setup versus a couple annoyances is large. I had a couple e-mails with Matrox for questions, etc, and they responded quickly. It was also recommended by somebody to get the MOOM (move and zoom) app from the iTunes store. It was $10, but worth every penny. It is a tool that gives even more flexibility to manipulate windows across the two screen set-up effectively as a large screen resolution. I have to report that my system is more stable than ever (under Yosemite 10.10.1) with this Matrox system (no more issues-very peppy). Never any monitor related issues any more. I primarily do software work and need 3 external monitors, with the option to quickly detach all the peripherals when I need to go on the road. With the 8460p it was 1 button press to unhook everything. It's been a real pain to find a docking solution that even comes close to what I had before. My monitors are slightly older and are connected via a dp hub and 3 active displayport to DVI adpaters. I thought all I had to do was buy one of those type C to Displayport adapters to connect to my hub. Nope, did not work with my hub nor any of my dp->dvi adapters when directly connected. I tried 2 more brands before giving up and thinking of sending the xps 15 back. The problem with all the cheap adapters is that they don't seem to be "Pure displayport", whereas this one definitely is. This mean each of the 2 ports on this adapter are capable of supporting daisy chaining or hub-ing. =========Final setup=================== XPS 15 -> plugable adapter -> EVGA DP hub -> x3 DP to DVI Active adapters -> x3 Monitors Another way to use this if you use 2 external monitors: XPS 15 -> plugable adapter -> x2 DP to DVI Active adapters -> x2 Monitors + Internal XPS 15 screen To further limit the # of things you have to plug in, I have an older version of [[ASIN:B00JEPIOOQ Plugable 10-Port USB 3.0 SuperSpeed Hub with 48W Power Adapter and Two Flip-Up Ports with BC 1.2 Charging Support for Android, Apple iOS, and Windows Mobile Devices]] so you can connect the mouse, keyboard, etc... and only have to use 1 central usb input. Good customer service, poor product.

Ok, the customer service was good and they did try to resolve the issue with the thing not working. It was all via email and timely. However, the product itself is a poor and very complicated to setup (I never got it working). I am pretty good with setting things up and patient, but there are times when it gets to the point of it not being worth the time (after about 8-10 hours) with it not working at all and even with support. I am running two identical monitors (Acer P244w), up-to-date graphics card (running dual GPUs), ran their program for compatibility (says I was good to go), but still didn't have any luck with device working. I would avoid this thing.

Windows XP laptop in a docking station.
2 Dell monitors, 19inchish

Had an annoying time find something that would let me close my laptop lid and use the 2 monitors as one big monitor (primary + desktop space extended onto the second.

Worked like a charm. Didn't give me monitor #1 and monitor #2 BUT allowed a resolution of 2048X768 aka super wide. Allows me to do exactly what I wanted - stuff off to the side (movie, email, etc.) while I work in the primary monitor.

Installation was easy however I could not use the docking station's USB port - had to be off the laptop. Called tech support and they nailed it quick.

GREAT PRODUCT.

Nice but could be better

Enjoying it still. Only things is that if you disconnect it and reconnect you will have to switch back and change the settings back for it to work accordingly. I overcame that by making a backup of my setting before disconnecting it. So every time I disconnect i have to update my firmware using the backup I made, restart the PC and everything will be working again.

Pro: The abilities of using both external monitors with a laptop or desktop. The best part of this product is the ability to have three screens instead of two. Yes..You use your laptop as the primary and both monitor as the secondary screen. How. after reading the instructions you can split the secondary screen into two. This makes three screen.

Con: Have not experience the full extend yet. But notice some quality may be lacking in split screen. If you not that picky and need to use extra screen this would be a good product.

Beware of Widescreen Monitors

The website compatibility check showed my equipment to be acceptable for this hardware application. The split screen functionality works great, but the resolution is very poor no matter what settings are selected. Beware of this product if your monitors are 16:9 format.

Configuring the device is tiresome.
