As a father who reviewed this book for my own daughters, I found this book cuts through a lot of the myths and assumptions girls (and guys) have about each other, dating and relating. Extremely valuable insights into how guys (and girls) think and operate. Deals with some gritty subjects if your daughter has been living a very protected life (e.g. home schooled, no internet & no TV), but even so, most kids have been exposed to far more than we would like to think every day, even at church. This book is engaging and easy to read with testimonial stories to help illustrate points. In some ways this book was embarrassing for me as a male, it made me reconsider what my own agendas and goals were, both when I first started pursuing girls and even within the context of my marriage...wow, are we really that shallow and simple? For the most part I have to agree with the author's assessment; even if guys are painted a bit on the bleak side, I say it is better safe than sorry when it comes to my daughters. I highly recommend this book...for your daughters, I meant...:-)

I like this book very much. Although it was targeted to teenagers, I still picked up the book even if I am a decade older. The main selling point of this book is the author talked about sexuality to teens. Guild the girls through what to do when guys approached to them with sexual requests. Each chapter has a few case studies, and are detailly written with bible verses to support. I usually can easily finished a book in one sitting, but this one I couldn't. After each chapter, I need to put down the book and think what I had done with my past. I finally understood my problem as my memory flashed back. This book made my day every time I read the new chapter. There was so much in the book you will need time to digest. I am single at the moment, and honestly I am desperate for love (marriage). I didn't simply find this book just talking about sexuality, but the way to see your life as a single as well. Great quotes and messages in the book. You will be a new woman after reading it. Recommended not only for teens, but singles.

i got this for my 11 year old daughter. she has been struggling with certain issues and this has been very helpful. i understand it addresses VERY hard and rough topics....so it might be a lil much for girls who are not already suffering. but for my daughter it has been helpful and she enjoys reading it together. other books on the issue very much addressees boys when it comes to porn and masturbation. this specifically dresses girls so to her it has been perfect

I am a mother of five and have 2 teenage daughters, which is why I purchased the book. I read the reviews of others before making my decision to get an idea of what people liked and disliked. Personally, I don't mind that it's upfront and in your face about the sexual topics our kids are facing. The internet, media, music, movies and pretty much the entire entertainment industry has NO problem distorting the minds of our children, in a very sinful ungoldy way that makes it look appealing. We need more books that are going to take these issues that our kids are dealing with, and they are dealing with them, and see them through god's eyes. What does scripture say?
My husband being a police officer, I hear alot of troubling things. What our kids are being exposed to is not what we were being exposed to twenty years ago. Kids having sex in elementary school and junior high IS the norm!
We are in a fight for the very souls of our children and we as parents we need to wake up.

I am 21 and grew up in a solid Christian home. I was sheltered and protected from sexual situations growing up, so much so that I didn't really see myself as a sexual being. I had been taught about purity and was dedicated to waiting. Imagine my surprise when I found myself quick to compromise in a friendship with a guy. So I bought this book.

This book is not perfect, and I wouldn't recommend it as the sole resource for a young woman seeking to understand her sexuality as a Christian. Even so, it's helpful. I was encouraged by it, even though it is geared for someone younger than me. For most girls my age who have dated before or dealt with this longer, this book will be too young.

Mothers, I would encourage you not to be squeamish about the fact that this book is frank. You don't need to have "the talk" with your daughters... you need to have an ongoing discussion. It was very easy for me to make promises when I was 12 and sex sounded gross anyways, but now I need solid, honest advice and accountability. As hard as you try, your girls will be exposed to all of this (by "this" I mean masturbation, oral sex, etc) and they will only respect you for being willing to talk honestly about it. Being scared of sex is NOT a good long-term plan for purity...believe me. Because my sexuality was not integrated into who I was and what I was willing to talk to God and others about, I was very vulnerable.

This book is honest, practical, and specific. As someone else mentioned, they did fail to address pornography, though the section on masturbation was helpful for me because I was never sure whether it was a bad idea or not (the church does not talk about these things nearly enough!)
The testimonies from girls in their teens or early 20's helps girls remember that they're nowhere near alone in this and that it's NOT WRONG to deal with sexual temptation.
They deal with the emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual aspects of purity.

Cons
It came across as a little cheesy at times, especially in the "Christianese" paragraphs they added at the end of each chapter. I love Jesus but I had to chuckle at times. Changing the verses (ex: no temptation has seized you except what is common to [woman]) makes them awkward, though I understand that they're trying to make them relevant.
It is geared for high school age girls, making it a little young for single adults like me.
Some may find it too "old-fashioned," but I think aiming for a high standard is a good idea. It's at least worth thinking about (and praying about).
The introduction and other sections of the book tend to paint guys as somewhat dangerous, manipulative, etc. Not all guys are out to use girls, and I believe that the idea that guys can compartmentalize and not get as emotionally hurt by casual sex is not really true.
