Dédé Wilson is a popular food writer, former Bon Appetit Contributing Editor and television personality. This is the third book of Ms. Wilson's I have purchased: her chocolate truffle book, Wedding Cakes You Can Make and just recently, this great book.

I much prefer spiral-bound books which this one is and I read every recipe from cover to cover. I put sticky notes on the ones I wanted to try right
away and yesterday made her Cookies 'n' Cream Cupcakes - WOW! I followed her directions to the letter, made the Classic Confectioners' Sugar Frosting - used the Oreo cookies, chopped away. Using my 'best girl friend' - the lovely KitchenAid stand mixer (also purchased from [...] -
I can tell you that I've never tasted any cupcake so delicious - the cupcake was so soft to eat - didn't crumble/fall apart - just absolutely perfect. I
always make notations on recipes and I wrote: "So light and delicious."

Being a perfectionist, I can tell you that I am highly critical of what I make and quick to point out if I have a bad recipe to follow. No matter how good of a baker you are, you're only as good as the recipe.

As a side note, in Wedding Cakes You Can Make, Dede was kind enough to include her email address. I ran into trouble on a cake I was commissioned to make for a shower. I searched the Internet for answers - then remembered Dede's email address was in the book. With one day to go before the delivery date, I was down to the wire. I wrote to Ms. Wilson, explained my problem - within a few hours, she wrote back and gave me step by step instructions on how to fix my problem and how to prevent it from happening in the future.

I am going to see what other book this very talented lady has written and order them! I'd rate this a AAAA+++++.

(I buy nearly everything from [...] - is this a great company or what? No tax, no shipping, no hassles and polite customer service reps. I always shop here first as I don't like shopping but sure is great to sit here, find what I want and push a button!)

I had recently checked this book out at the library and never in my life have I loved every page of a cupcake book. It's awesome and it has different cupcake ideas for every holiday and things such as baby showers and weddings. It even included April Fool's Day. The cupcakes are simple enough to make on your own and you don't need to be a professional to make these great looking cupcakes. I made April Fool's Day cupcakes and they were a great success. I had no problems and the people I made them for loved them! I would suggest this book if you love making cupcakes that are creative.

I really enjoyed this book especially the creativity of the cupcakes. I made several (key lime, lemon merigue, orange) and got rave reviews when I brought them to work. You must like to bake if you use this book. A lot of the recipes have multiple parts of preparation. Also, after making the first batch of the author's recipe for the cupcakes themselves I decided to use my own cake recipes as I found that the ones in the book to be on the dry side and more complicated than cupcakes needed to be.
