Product Description

The Moon Phase Clock captures the moon’s many phases – and places them right on your desk! If you’re looking for a cool conversation piece, look no further than this eye catching moon clock. It replicates the moon’s many phases by rotating a matte black shield around a detailed serigraphy of the moon. And since most of us don’t know how to tell the date or time using the phases of the moon, it also features a quartz movement clock and a calendar. The movement of this moon phase calendar clock is so quiet and the etching of the moon so realistic you couldn’t be blamed for thinking you’re staring up at the night sky!

Gman's review is correct- this is just a plastic black disk that slowly covers and uncovers a sticker drawing of the moon. Definitely not worth almost $100. But it DOES accurately show the phases of the moon and you almost never have to reset it. The instructions say to reset every 6 months, but when I tried doing that I found that the clock was still exactly on point with it's phases so there was no point in reseting it to the appropriate phase.

I've had this clock for over a year now and I'm very happy with it. The only thing is that for the price you definitely would expect more than a piece of plastic covering over a sticker photo of the moon. But that's what you get. Still I can't find anything else like this. I like that I can see the phase of the moon from across the room with this and that it can be a very understated decorative item.

I sent this has a gift and received a call from the recipient stating that based upon what I had paid he felt obligated to advise me to return it. It was far too cheaply made to justify the price.

This item has a battery-powered clockwork motor timed to the lunar phase. The motor turns a shading cup across an image of the lunar face, replicating what you see outside. It is not something to hold or do things with, but sits on a shelf and tells you what's going on outside. It also has a standard civil-time clock which is quite accurate. Good for adults or children, but don't expect this to be "entertainment". It is educational, especially for kids with an interest in astronomy and such. Probably not for the "game-boy" football-minded child, nor for the adults of a similar unfocused, "Entertainment Tonight" mind-set.

This purchase was a present for a nephew, his wife and young daughters, 3 and 8 years old, both interested in the night sky. I have owned 2 of the clocks for about 5 years and, even as an adult, enjoy watching them. The clock is an excellent tool for learning and for just every day enjoyment.

First up: the plastic looks at least a little cheaper in reality than it does online, but not much. Overall, I felt it was worth the money. It runs silently and appears to be quite accurate.
A few quibbles: 1.It isn't readily apparent from the photos, but the moon is a flat photograph, not a photo-globe (I would up it to 5 stars if it had been.) 2.Instead of a second hand it has a tiny disk in the center of the clock face with a white dot-but you have to look at it for several seconds to decide if it is actually moving-it isn't very useful.
Other than those two points I can't find anything I don't like.
Now as to the quality service: The first clock was damaged in shipment. Even though the box wasn't opened for weeks (it was a gift, ordered early) the company promptly sent out a replacement. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!

I enjoy the idea of this product, but it wasn't what I wanted I suppose. The moon was just a sticker, I thought there would be more creativity to it. So I contacted to seller which issued a return. The seller responded swiftly to my emails to resolve this issue quickly.

I was given this clock as a gift in 1995. It has survived four re-locations, three girlfriends, and we have settled in with a wife. As with any quality product, if you take care of it, it will last. My clock still works great in every way, except that it gains one minute every month. Not to shabby!
