Suppose you want to start watching a good time travel series but don't have 100 hours to invest.
Suppose you hate horrible, poorly acted sci-fi and have given up?
Suppose you could catch a free episode here and...if you have Hulu you could catch the rest or of course you could stick with Amazon if you really like it because unfortunately this series (almost an extended mini-series) has never been released for sale on DVD so purchasing from Amazon is a great option.
Well good news...this is a great "modern?" version mix of Quantum Leap (less cheesy without Al from the future) and a little closer to the little watched Early Edition (a great short series with a young Kyle Chandler). I highly suggest watching at least the pilot. You might find yourself hooked.

it's a great combination of good plot

Still don't understand what NBC was thinking whenthey cancelled this show. Loosely based on the novel "The Time Traveller's Wife", it's a great combination of good plot, great story, and an excellent cast. Much better quality than other shows that are still on the air. I still have hopes that the creator Kevin Falls reunites the cast for a second season, even if it is done as an Amazon show.

one of my favorite short lived shows

one of my favorite short lived shows. I repeatedly watch at least twice a year. what could've been Dr. who for America without trying to copy of it. the relationships were, real each episode had its own consequences for the next. family was the heart of the show. the actors were great and wonderfully picked. It took sci-fi time travel to an adult level. And showed someone who really cared about people and making life in the world a better place.

I blame the failure of this program on the of the dumbing down of the population and the pride that the media is feeding the population with criminals as heroes, reality TV, in a blatant disregard for other people and life in general as well as the breakdown in the belief of family and judgment to improve family life

What a fantastic, quality show that should have never been cancelled.

I was interested in the series after I'd seen the pilot episode and realizing that Kevin McKidd was the same Kevin from Trainspotting and the excellent series on HBO, Rome. I just knew that Journeyman would be great. And it was. All the cast and supporting rolls were excellent. The writing was fresh and the storyline stayed true to what was happening. It's a story of a married newspaper reporter who unwittingly becomes a time traveler who somehow must figure out why he has been transported and then what he has to do to change the future by mostly saving someone's life or changing it in some way. This is what makes the show so redeeming and not like any other story of this kind. I watched the entire first season but the writer's strike soon took over and somehow, this quality show got caught in the fray and was cancelled after the first season. What a shame. This show should have never been cancelled. When I saw that Amazon had it, I purchased the whole first season and now I share it with all my family and friends. Everyone who sees it loves it. It was one of the few good quality shows on network television. Great series, I highly recommend it.

Time travel with lots of cool twists

Fun series, even if you've seen lots of time travel shows (going all the way back to The Time Tunnel). There are lots of quirky twists in the plot (i.e., the traveler is trying to hold together a job and a marriage in "his" time while randomly being zapped to other times by a force he does not control). Lots of fun ensues when the traveler tries to pay a way-back cabbie with one of the 21st Century $20 bills. One annoying side story: the time traveler plays a reporter at a newspaper that appears on the brink of business failure. Kudos for timeliness, but raspberries for accuracy. The newsroom, its tone and its characters seem cut-and-pasted from an old "Lou Grant" episode. Talk about time travel! If you can ignore that out-of-date aspect, "Journeyman" will probably hook you.

The pilot will bring me back for more

First, the pilot episode is free before the premiere, so what do you have to lose? Give it a chance.

I decided that I would give Journeyman a shot. One opportunity to hook me and bring me back. Though I don't like the chances of survival (Moon Bloodgood, Olivia in this show, was in another time-travel show I liked last year that got canceled, Day Break), I will be back for the second episode. I like the premise. I like the mystery of how it happens and how it works, that element needs to be kept to keep viewers interested while also giving out just a little bit here and there so viewers don't feel they're wasting their time.

Though it was just a pilot, I think this series has some potential. I hope people give it a chance instead of writing it off. Good luck Journeyman!

I'm not big on time travel shows, but I was hooked when I started watching this one. The main character not only got to go back home after his travel, but his wife believed what was going on.
