    This 2005 DVD release features the first trio of Wallace and Gromit animated adventures/misadventures, consisting of A Grand Day Out, The Wrong Trousers, and A Close Shave.

    Wallace and Gromit are a duo of a well-meaning inventor and his faithful canine companion. The duo gets into all sorts of adventures/misadventures. The practice of inventing things is a hobby of Wallace's. He invents things that he feels could be for the benefit of all humankind. He also cherishes his canine companion as a faithful best friend and sole confidante.

    I first became aware when I saw "A Close Shave" on HBO a long time ago. I actually enjoyed this and would later own two VHS releases of the aforementioned short and "The Wrong Trousers". In 2005, when this DVD was released, I immediately bought it mainly to see "A Grand Day Out".

    These shorts are fun, funny and very entertaining. These shorts can be watched by people of all ages. Plus, the fun and entertainment of them never becomes stale no matter how many times they are watched. They are also fun for the whole family.

    The character of Wallace is very appealing and likeable. He is a sincere man who wants to help humankind the only way he feels he knows how. Although many of his inventions don't work out the way he hopes for them to do, he is a very well-meaning man who feels that it's his duty to help his fellow people. His canine companion Gromit is also faithful and stands by Wallace regardless of his master's faults. Although he never makes any noises as he has no mouth, you can see that Gromit loves and respects his master regardless of his faults. This makes for a wonderful relationship between them.

    These shorts are very well made. They are also very funny and entertaining. They are also a work of genius. Nick Park creates a wonderfully entertaining, and funny, duo that really make a very good team. Again, they also can be enjoyed by people of all ages, and also, are great family entertainment.

    No fan of animation of any kind should be without this DVD set in their respective libraries.

    This collection includes three W&G 30-minute shorts (this came out prior to Loaf & Death). Two of these are Academy Award winners (The Wrong Trousers and A Close Shave), and actually A Grand Day Out was also nominated for Best Animated Short Film, but lost out to another Nick Park piece.

    This collection also includes ten Cracking Contraptions (Wallace's ill-conceived inventions) and a couple Shaun the Sheep episodes. It also has commentaries and some featurettes.

    The Wrong Trousers and A Close Shave are excellent. A Grand Day Out is more rough but it's still fun to see the characters develop. FYI the newest one (A Matter of Loaf or Death) isn't so great, so don't worry about it not being on this collection.

    Like Mr. Bean, Wallace and Gromit is popular in a *huge* way in Britain but I'm not sure the humo(u)r has ever found quite the same reception here in the States. It should, though.

    I purchased this DVD for a friend of my son's who was turning five. Every time the kid comes over to our house he insists on watching one of these three movies which I own on VHS. I came to check if any were available on DVD and was pleasantly surprised to find them all on one.

    He was very excited when he opened the present and as soon as he was done with opening the rest, his Spongebob Squarepants DVD was yanked out and this one was put in. I recommend to everyone who has children or knows children, or even just likes animation themselves.

    There is little question that Wallace & Gromit are the best animated duo out there. Gromit is a very intelligent canine who always has to bail out his partner, Wallace, from every contraption mess.

    Be careful what version you order. This collection has been released a couple of times, and there are differences. The soundtrack changes bteween them (e.g., "Happy Birthday" vs. "He's a Jolly Good Fellow", and "How Much is that Doggy in the Window" vs. generic instrumental). It fits much better with the older version.

    No matter what, this is still excellent fun for the parents and the kids!

    As always, Wallace and Gromit find themselves on an adventure full of mischief. And what fun it is to watch them bumble through it all! This one is great for the whole family, especially children at heart.

    It is simply amazing considering that it's claymation, created painstakingly by hand. Look closely and you may spot a thumb print on one of the characters!

    I personally enjoyed "A Close Shave" and "The Wrong Trousers", they were rather unique and full of wicked humour. Nick Park, the creator, is well known for his sense of humour and there is always a scene that pokes fun at other famous stories or movies. His ideas and creativity are absolutely hilarious.

    For a fresh updated story, take a gander at the special features and view Shaun's adventures. He is super cute!
