Happy 2007 Mac Pro

I installed this in my Mac Pro. I'm running a 2 x 3 Ghz Dual-Core intel Xeon computer, made in 2007. I installed it myself, which was easy enough, but I've worked with computers before, if you haven't I recommend to use A LOT OF PATIENCE. As it's tiny screws, and tiny plugs. But it's easy enough. It's running on the 802.11 g network, although it does run on any a/b/g/n. So if I buy the airport express, I can easily upgrade.
Very very happy that I have this, as now my internet doesn't need the cord. And if you live in a city, you can more than likely find a friendly person to share the internet with you and save 50 some bucks a month.

Buy this if you want wireless internet for a Mac Pro. So far I've seen them work in every Mac Pro, from the 2006 models, right up to the 2009 models.

No brainer wireless for your Mac tower

This is pretty much the card you have to get for your mac tower. Other cards I've tried do not integrate as well with the OSX operating system (they do not use the network preference pane for configuration), or are missing key features (enterprise level wireless security). This card handles everything, has a good range, and is installed discreetly inside the case. It'll also work for most of the mac pro towers, I installed my card in a 2006 tower.

The down side is that installation is a complete pain in the behind. Bring your jeweller's size phillips head screwdriver, and a pair of steady hands. The card needs to fit inside a very small riser that runs parallel to the card. The tension in the card will force it up, and if you don't have your hand on the tiny screws just right, they'll go flying somewhere inside the case. Finding them and getting them out at that point is a big pain... and yes, it happened to me.

I'm docking a star for the installation hassles, and the fact that the card looked nothing like the picture. However, it's an official Apple product, and works fine.

Great Product Delicate Install

This product was delivered on time and works perfectly in my Mac Pro.

Only issue that I had wasn't with the product itself but finding the antenna for the wireless and attaching it to the card. The antenna wires are stored behind drive bay 1 & 2 with a little bit of tape holding them to an area right near the bay 1 and 2 SATA connectors with the terminals tucked behind the motherboard a bit.

Once I had the wires out and the card in I realized that it would be much more easy to attach the antenna wires to the card with the card not mounted on the motherboard. With the card in hand, and a good amount of light on the subject the antenna wires attached quickly. I then re-mounted the wireless card to the motherboard, plugged everything back together and turned the computer on.

So nice to have the ability to use my wireless network.

I picked this up used. I see the prices for new and balk every time I see it. So, I took a chance and got this and it has worked flawlessly. The Mac Pro I use (2008 Dual 2.8 Quad-Core Xeon) has the 3 cables, not just the 2, but I just attached cables 1 and 2 and left 3 hanging and it works great! Installation is only a little tricky, seeing as it should come with 2 TINY screws that can be easily lost in the installation process. Make sure you have time and patience in case you have meat hooks for hands like I do. I would recommend this for the 2008 Mac Pro line.

It does the trick. When installing on a 2006 MacPro, i recommend attaching the antenna wires (the two short ones) before insertion into the slot. Also, i highly recommend that you remove the fan and cpu heatsink to give yourself room. My son and i tried 10 minutes to get the antenna wires onto an inserted card with other structures close by to no avail. With the other parts removed, it was a snap even if their removal took more time. The most important reason to do that, however, is to protect the antenna wires. They are delicate!

Works perfectly for my Mac Pro 3,1

It is a pain to install. Requires patience especially if you have larger hands.

I was skeptical about getting the wifi card over the USB adapter but I had some burns purchasing USB wifi that claimed to have Mac drivers that just didn't work with my Mac. And the idea of freeing up a USB slot was appealing so I took a risk with this one even though it was not an Amazon Prime item. I am glad I made the choice.

First, the installation process itself is a simple one you can look up online. You simply install the card and voila, your Mac now has wifi. I didn't have to do any software update, install drivers, run some scripts, etc. Wifi just shows up like any other Mac product. Works beautifully. Installation basically consists of finding the right cable, plugging in the right cables (labeled), put card in slot, screw it down.

The reason for the pain is how tiny all this is and where the card is located. It is located next in the corner with the drive bays so you want to free up the drive bay to make some room. Even then you are up against a lot of things and the screw/card are both already super tiny and the cables are super short. It makes it very difficult to install only cause they are small and against a corner and it seems to be a fairly precision work in terms of tiny screw going into a tiny hole. I dropped my screws 3 times and it was additional pain and suffering to grab those again.

Be sure you have the screws and these screws are not easy to come by.

Anyway, all in all it took be about 12 minutes to install while reading instructions online. VERY HAPPY with it!
If it breaks down or something, I will update this review.
