- Reviewed in the United States on August 29, 2013This game is great for getting to know fun facts/preferences of your opponents. Everyone picks (from the few cards in their hand) the "it" person's favorite thing and anonymously submits it. The person who is "it" ranks the submitted cards from least favorite, for one point, to their favorite, for the highest points. The next round, the person to their left is now "it." After everyone has been "it" you tally up your point chips to determine the winner. This is a great ice breaker or "get to know you game" or can be played with old friends and family too. Whoonu is quick and easy to learn. All players are on an even playing field and the fun comes quick and easy. Our Variation: We LOVE to play the opposite way, choosing everyone's LEAST favorite thing too. This was inspired by a player who just didn't ever seem to like anything printed on the cards, and brings another level of fun and laughs! We love games, have played pretty much all of them, and this deserves a spot in your game closet!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 28, 2024This is a fun family or close friends game. You see how well you know the other players and in a fun game gain points for ranking how you think the "it" person responds to a variety of choices. I don't think I'm describing it well but it is really a lot of fun!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 11, 2023This was bought in "used - very good condition", supposedly. The cards in the box were in very good condition, the chips were in good condition, but the tin it came in was VERY used. It was very scratched up, dented here & there, and there was tape & tape residue all over the tin which left sticky gunk on the whole thing. Thankfully, I tested a spot to see if the gunk could be removed with alcohol without damaging the paint, & about 30 minutes later, it was fairly well cleaned off & didn't stick to your fingers or papers, etc. We love the game, but, REALLY, "5 Star Resellers" needs to do a better job describing their merchandise & telling the truth!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 13, 2010Whoonu is quick to play and great fun for stimulating family laughter and conversations! On any turn, the other players have to choose two cards with things that they think the designated "whoozit" will like best. These cards are put in an envelope, and then the "whoozit" player secretly puts them in order from least to most favorite. There are always funny surprises. Although this game says ages 8 and up, it works well for younger children as long as they can read independently. Our Kindergartner is an excellent reader and adores playing this along with both parents and her 8 year old brother. The game takes only minutes to learn and set up, but always varies because there are so many cards. It is not "educational," but promotes family conversation and time together without major competition. Sturdy design, too! Our family recommends just about any game made by Cranium!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 20, 2023I usually check status of items. This was not listed as used. I gave the WhooNu game as a gift and I felt terrible that the game was missing a green 5pt chip and the instructions were missing. Very disappointed that it did not mention any of this.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 26, 2020I purchased two games for my classroom. Both of the games had game pieces missing. One game was missing the card holder (the other one I have has fallen apart and fixed with tape), and one game was without five point chips. Very disappointing, two games to make one. : (
- Reviewed in the United States on August 1, 2011This game is really fun when you have a relatively big group of people (it's ideal for 3-6 people playing). It's a guess who likes what kind of game, which works whether you know everyone or have just met someone for the first time, so it's nice to be able to learn more about other people playing this. Probably most people can only handle playing this game for about 40 minutes tops and the game provides about 1000 cards of hobbies/likes so you don't really have to worry about repeating things until you've played this 20 times. It's good for adults and kids probably older than 7 or 8 since they have to be able to read the cards and understand the concept of the game. I've used this with younger kids (ages 4-6) to teach them how to read, since there aren't any inappropriate words on these cards that you have to worry about.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 24, 2008Our family of 4 (we have two boys 12 & 8) first played this game while staying in a hotel where you could check out games. We played this one and Ziggity, also by Cranium. We ended up purchasing both.
Each player, except the Whoozit (everyone takes turns being the Whoozit), draws a certain number of cards. They choose one card from their hand they think the Whoozit likes the best and inserts that card in a sleeve. The Whoozit takes all cards from the sleeve and ranks the cards in order of their preference and points are allocated to each player based on the ranking.
The pluses to this game are:
* rounds are short - it doesn't take long to play, but you can always play more rounds to continue the fun
* it's easy to catch onto, which makes it appropriate for all ages (given younger children can read the cards). I suppose a non-reading child could even play with some assistance, but we haven't tried it.
* there is a wide variety of topics on the cards - things one might not consider and it just might spark some conversation!
The negatives are: NONE!
My parents came over last night and played this game with our family (there were 6 of us, which is the maximum number of players). Usually we can't get them to play games with us, but this one drew them in. It was easy to understand and entertaining as well. I highly recommend this game.
